Ray POV:
Before anything else was said, Davis and Nina came in. She looks nervous and is holding a large bouquet of wildflowers. Not any flowers, but of forget-me-nots flowers, my favorites. I ran to her and hugged her saying thank you, which made her cry harder. Davis is rubbing soothing circles on her back without letting her go while I am hugging her. When I let go, I saw him wearing the mark on his neck. It’s a beautiful wolf tattoo with a delicate pattern around it with Nina’s name on it. I think the wolf in the tattoo must look like her wolf, but I haven’t seen her wolf yet to confirm it, so I keep mum. Oliver screams again. I think he will burst my ear drums soon, because of his antics.
“Oh my god, you are mates. I told you, Eric. You won’t listen to me.” He says dejectedly.
“We didn’t want Alpha Simon to find out. I didn’t know what he would do to her. If he knew, we were mates.” Davis says somberly. Blaze stops him from saying anything else by raising his hand.
“He doesn’t deserve to be an Alpha, so just call him Simon.” Now I am more bewildered than I was before. What’s his deal? Why did he say that? But Eric cleared his throat by saying something else altogether.
“Umm... so, talking about mates.” He points towards Ritz and Blake. Blake kisses the girl’s head and nods. Oh, they are adorable. Oliver spoke again. This guy has no filter. He will surely get his ass kicked someday.
“What are you pointing at? We can all see your mark. Have you nothing to say about that?”
“What she is my mate, and we marked each other.” He states with finality. But they all start bickering like kids after that explanation. I have never seen so much happiness and love in one place before. Even if it kills me looking at Stacey and Blaze. Stacey is so beautiful, with big silver eyes, silky silver hair, and porcelain white skin unlike me. She looks great with Blaze; they make an attractive couple. Even if it hurts my heart for some stupid reason. It feels as if someone is putting nails through my heart. But it’s true, they are the perfect couple.
The vampire guy, Luke, I think keeps staring at Oliver when no one’s looking. When our eyes meet, he just smiles at me and winks. After that, the most terrifying growl I have ever heard shakes the cabin. Blaze is shaking with anger and his eyes keep glowing. I slowly got up and went to him and hugged him tightly, just how he hugged me yesterday. Well, I am a hugger now. I have accepted my destiny, I give hugs. He inhales a big breath of air and buries his head in my hair.
After a while he reluctantly lets go when someone clears his throat. When I turned around it was Oliver again, to no surprise. I think this guy has a death wish honestly. Connor smacks him on the head and continues.
“Ray, we would like to ask you a few things and explain ourselves. Would you like to sit here or go outside towards the fields and sit in the meadow?” I am stunned into silence; I don’t think anyone ever cared what I wanted. And this total stranger is asking me what I want. Blaze sees my dilemma, as the confusion is written all over my face. He gently squeezes my hand.
“It’s no rush really. You can take your time. We won’t force you into doing something you are not ready for. Hence, we will take things at your pace. Why don’t you tell us what you would like to do instead? It’s your first free day. You must have something you would like to do?” he asked slowly, ignoring entirely of what Connor said. Everyone throws him a dirty look as if he is doing something wrong, but I don’t say anything about it. He is practically avoiding everyone’s gaze, focusing only on me.
“She knows guys, she remembers; she remembers Thor saving her. She knows who Roy and I are in the pack.” He states as an explanation. That placates a few of them a bit, but not all. Nina is still holding the flowers and standing next to me. So, I ignore everyone and talk to her. I remember her words from yesterday.
“I am not mad at you, never was and never will be. You did whatever you could do at that time. That was a lot more than a lot many people did for me. So, thank you.” I hugged her and Davis. Which makes Blaze growl again. What’s his deal with all the growling? I shot him a look, but he simply shrugs and scratches his head like he does when he is nervous. I changed the topic as the atmosphere was suddenly very stiff and awkward. They seriously want to talk about something important, and I know it is about the pack. I understand they are risking a lot by helping me. But I don’t want to talk about anything, at least not for now.
“Can you guys show me around? Can someone tell me what work I must do while I am here? I don’t want to anger whoever is in charge.” I asked instead. Connor replies instantly.
“You know, you are staying with the guy in charge. So, why don’t you ask him? What would he like you to do?” He is smirking at Blaze, who is angry again and growling at him. At this rate, I need to tape myself to this guy. If my hugs are the only thing that helps him calm down and stop growling at people. I don't mind the idea entirely. He is very easy to anger for someone, who is so gentle around me.
“Drop it Connor. Ray, you are not fully recovered yet. So please just focus on healing. We do need to have a conversation about everything. You need to know a few things in order to make an informed decision, but it can wait. You can have one simple day without any stress here. I will show you around. If that’s what you would like to do?” He glares at everyone challenging them to oppose him. Now all the boys are smirking at him, and the girls just smile. It feels as if this was their plan from the beginning. This is weird. I must admit. This is like some inside joke, I don’t know. Even Stacey keeps quiet but smiles at him. They are one weird bunch of people; I would poke the girls’ eyes out if my boyfriend was showing her around alone, and she just smiled.
He gently grabs my hand and leads me towards the door. He runs back in and gets a big jumper from his trunk.
“It’s a little cold outside. I don’t want you to get sick.”
Werewolves, we usually don’t get sick, but I think my bruises look worse than I thought they did. He is really worried about me. I have never had someone take care of me apart from my angel, so this is a welcome surprise. I don’t know what to say, so I just nod while he puts the jumper over my shoulder.
