Ray POV:
My world shatters around me. This cannot happen. I won’t let him do that. I would rather die than be with him. When I push him away. He kicks me hard in the stomach and pulls me up, grabbing my hair.
“I was doing you a favor, mutt. I am much better than what he will do to you.” He sneers, hitting me hard again.
“Who?” I asked him softly. I think I have finally lost it if I expect an answer from him.
“Blaze, he will enjoy breaking your spirit. He is much more ruthless and hateful than me. I was doing you a favor. I will at least taste and sample you for my big brother.” No, no, no it can’t be. Blaze isn’t a monster like him. Deep down I know he is not like them. I don’t believe him. He is lying. I don't know how, but I know Blaze isn't a monster.
When he assaults me again, my wolf breaks through. My claws grow longer, while I roar, shaking the surrounding trees. The power of that roar surprises me. I am thrown in the back of my mind. It’s like my body is a car and someone else is driving it while I sit in the passenger seat. This startles everyone around me in action, the fight breaks through and everyone is fighting. Nicholas attacks me and I defend myself with my claws and teeth. I don’t know how she is doing this, but I am grateful to her. We fight while others attack me too.
“I would never be yours, you filthy dog. You are an insult to the wolves. Your other half is as disgusting as you. I will kill you today. No one will mark me but my mate.” My wolf growls back. The power of her voice frightens Nicholas. I could see his façade cracking, for the first time in my life, I witnessed fear in his dead eyes. My wolf is angry, and she radiates her anger through her powerful aura. I don’t know how that’s possible, but I don’t care. Everyone is fighting around me.
Suddenly, a terrifying roar is heard from behind us. A big gray wolf jumps above me pinning Nicholas to the ground. I feel safe and calm with this wolf around. I still maintain my half-shifted form and just stand there. I don’t have to fight anymore.
No one comes towards me; they are avoiding me. Another wolf and a tiger start fighting with the rogue wolves. I am hallucinating again. What is a tiger doing here in a wolf pack? My wolf, who is yet nameless is interested in just my defender who is defending her honor. I just stood there dazed looking at them fighting. The gray wolf is tearing Nicholas apart, blood pours through his wounded body, which makes him shift back into his human form. The other wolf shifts too. I haven’t seen his face yet, but I finally smelled him. An unforgettable scent of Forget-me-nots. How could I have missed this? It’s the scent that I have been looking for? His scent is enveloping me in a cocoon of safety.
I don’t even blink, just stare at his ripped muscular back. He has a tribal tattoo on his left arm. He is almost 6’2”, sturdily built with massive biceps. Looking at his arms alone, I feel he could snap me like a twig. He has curly black hair like the midnight sky; I want to put my hands in it. I am definitely going mad; I want to touch a stranger. He roars at Nicholas that he told him to leave me alone with hatred and disgust in the most terrifying voice I ever heard.
“Me? He told Nicholas to leave me alone. Why?”. I can’t even answer my own questions.
Nicholas swears at him and promises to kill me. I am still frozen in my spot. That’s when I see it, “The resemblance”. The mysterious guy and Nicholas are related. Why is he helping me? Maybe he wanted me to be his possession. The scene in front of me is perplexing me while I am trying to make any sense of whatever this is. That’s when he tears the canines off Nicholas’s jaws. I cannot believe him. He did this to his own blood for me. He finally turns towards me, inching closer step by step. He is even more handsome than I imagined. Chiseled jaws, a manly peppered stubble, and chocolate-brown eyes. His eyes are staring into the depths of my soul holding so many emotions, yet concern for me is the strongest, as I can practically feel it within me.
He is talking to me, but I am unable to react. I cannot even react as I am still frozen in place. He calls me baby and tells me to relax, but all I can do is stare at him. That’s when I notice, Nicholas is shifting to attack him. I try to take a protective stance to defend my savior, but he pushes me down and shifts. He tears Nicholas’s head off his body with a single strike. But he is just so angry that he keeps tearing the dead body apart. Blood and tissues are raining down on us. I slowly got up and walked up to him.
“It’s OK, I am OK,” I told him slowly. He inched closer to me as if seeking reassurance that I am alive.
I gently touched his soft fur, caressing it. I can sense the beast relaxing and purring like a kitten. He is looking at me with his beautiful chocolaty brown eyes. Before I can say something, I start feeling dizzy, making me stagger. My mysterious savior catches me before I hit the ground, holding me closer to his chest. I can feel him carrying me somewhere. The last thing I remember is his scent, forget-me-nots comforting me and lulling me to sleep.
