I looked at Vincent in surprise "found who exactly?".
He shook his head "it's better if you don't know honestly. Once I deal with them, it should make your life easier though".
My eyes got wide "easier how?". I didn't consider my life difficult, but I was ready to move on with it.
"When his hold on this town breaks, you shouldn't be restricted to leave any longer" he smiled at me, before looking me over, making a blush creep back onto my cheeks. He looked quizzical all of a sudden "but wait, you said you've always wanted to leave right?" I nodded at his question "that's strange... if he has the whole town under his control, why aren't you under it as well?"
I shrugged, not really having an answer for him "beats me, I hate this place. I've been trying to run away since I was little. My first attempt was at 5 years old" I said with a laugh. As a 5 year old I clearly didn't get anywhere, but it was true. It wasn't until I got older that I realized I would have to be smarter about it. "My last attempt was at 15 years old, after that I knew I would have to save and just go about it properly. Plus it got a lot of people including my parents off my back about trying to leave".
"5 year old huh? Hmm. Seems like for whatever reason, you're immune to his power then" he paused as though listening to something "Samael is stumped as well. We have yet to come across a human immune to a demons powers". He raised an eyebrow as he continued listening to what I now knew was Samael speaking to him "no, no we are NOT going to test our powers on her" he stated.
"I-I mean... I'm curious too" I whispered, slowly meeting his eyes.
He looked at me for a few seconds before shaking his head "I'm sorry gorgeous, I'm not willing to risk it and let you see just how nasty he can be".
I felt deflated and elated at the same time. Deflated because I wanted to know if I was indeed special, but elated as he had referred to me as gorgeous. That was a compliment I wasn't used to getting at all. I decided to push, using the confidence he gave me from that compliment "I can handle it, I mean I didn't go running away screaming when I met him in the park". Granted, that was because I was pretty sure the shadows would get me if I did try to run and I been frozen in fear, but he didn't need to know that.
He sighed as I pushed him. Watching me for any hint of wavering. When I didn't he shrugged and shifted his shoulders around, as if readying himself "Don't say I didn't warn you" he said in a sad tone before the red glow appeared around him. I watched in fascination as he closed his eyes and he started changing again. This time however, his clothes didn't bother changing. Interesting.
As soon as the glow had disappeared and he was in his demon form he opened his eyes and a devilish grin appeared on his face. I felt a chill go down my spine as he spoke to me "alright princess... let's see what you've got".
Before I knew it, my room was gone and I was in a dark forest sitting on a rock. I stood up and looked around wildly, Samael no longer there. I looked around terrified "S-Samael?... what's going on?". It was almost pitch black and the trees looked horribly menacing. How on earth did I get here and if he could teleport, why was he a wanderer?
I shuddered as I felt something lightly claw down my back, unable to move. I felt a breath come over my shoulder, hot against my ear "just a tiny human... what on earth should we do with you". I gulped as I felt one of his hands come over my shoulder to wrap around my neck, holding me back against him "I could kill you in an instant you know" I felt his hand tighten around my neck a little, a small whimper escaping me.
"W-what is the purpose of this... w-where are we" I stammered out which caused him to laugh, releasing his grip slightly.
"I'm surprised you can talk, most humans don't have that kind of power in my illusions" his hand came up from my neck, his thumb tugging on my bottom lip "you talk too much and ask too many questions but perhaps you may be useful in time" I shivered at the strange contact. I had been trying to move but found myself unable, finally pushing off of him with all my might and turning to face him only to be met with him standing in front of the couch where this whole thing started.
I looked around confused "we were just..." I trailed off, remembering his words "illusions... so that was all an illusion?" I stated as he flashed that devilish grin again, closing the distance between us and taking my chin into his hand as he tilted my head up to look into his eyes which still danced with fire.
"Indeed an illusion... an illusion you just shattered my dear" he wouldn't break eye contact. It felt as though he was trying to stare directly into my soul "an intriguing human... I suppose he can keep you around after all". As soon as he finished speaking, the red glow surrounded him again, his eyes stayed open this time, watching mine until they were suddenly back to piercing blue.
He stood there for a moment before realizing how close he was to me, taking a step back and letting me go. I let go of a breath I didn't realize I was holding, slowly sinking down to sit back on the couch. Vincent took a step back toward me, seeming to feel me out "are you okay?".
I laughed "okay may not be the right word but... he's not so bad" I tried to sound confident, but he had scared me pretty badly. I felt oddly turned on as well. He had been rough around the edges and clearly had a dominating personality. One I didn't necessarily mind. I was confused. I really needed to sleep on this. "You can explain more of this tomorrow, I really need to catch some sleep".
He nodded, still looking at me as if he was unsure if I would turn and bolt at any moment. I sighed this time "I'm not going anywhere, I already told you I want to know more." This caused him to finally smile again. God I loved that smile.
"Alright, some shut eye and we can continue from there" he stood and looked around. I realized that as big as the room was, I still only had the one bed. I looked at him. He looked as though he needed it more than I did.
"You can take the bed" I stated as I gestured toward it. "The couch is plenty comfy and something tells me you haven't had a good proper bed sleep in a while". He looked surprised when I suggested it, then relieved. I knew I was right, he needed it more than I did.
"I... thank you." He stepped closer, leaning down and lightly kissing my forehead before he walked over to the bed. I was shocked into being frozen again. It was such a simple light gesture, but my whole body was on fire now. He was sparking something I didn't understand, but I wanted more. I had to have more.
I shook myself a bit. Refusing to give in to this reaction so easily, smiling at him when he looked back toward me "it's no big deal, don't even worry about it". I was impressed I was able to respond. He smiled at me again before taking off his shirt, his toned abs making my mouth water. What I wouldn't give to trace them. I forced myself to look away as he took off his pants as well, leaving him in just his boxers.
He crawled into bed without another word as I gathered the courage and the will to move again. I shoved my box of treasures back under my couch for safe keeping, getting up and grabbing a blanket from the chest at the end of the bed. I made my way back to the couch. I typically slept in the nude myself, but wasn't sure how I was going to do that now.
I laid on the couch, throwing the blanket over me and shimmied out of my clothes while under the blanket, tossing them onto the floor. I wasn't sure what I would do in the morning, but oh well. For now I was comfortable.
I turned on my side so I was facing the bed, surprised to already hear light snores coming from it's direction. I had made the right decision, he absolutely needed it. I smiled to myself as I closed my eyes and fell asleep myself.
