"Have you seen the carny? Where is she? Please tell me, where is she?"

The stairs were bare, without tiles, without railings. There were still signs of the war. The walls had opened a chasm on one facade. A few months ago they plugged it with mortar. The house, however, is cozy. We are in Novo Sarajevo.
"There is no garden." I tell her.
"The municipality assigned me this house without a garden." She is a war refugee, then.
"What about Saffet?"
"I got married to Saffet three months ago!" "Really! I would never have said that!"
"It was not out of love. I left him alone on a bed in the hospital in Pristina -- dying."
"What about your mother?"
"Dead. The breast cancer had decided to move to the lungs."
