Rudy woke up mid-afternoon to find Terry sitting cross-legged on the floor staring at him. Ignoring him, Rudy headed for the bathroom. When he got back, Terry was still there.
“You’re going to get cramps in your knees,” Rudy pointed out sarcastically as he dropped the shirt he’d been wearing on the cot and got another from the shelves along the wall.
“I’m sure I’ll work them out when we go…wherever you’re going,” Terry replied, straightening his legs.
“‘We’ are not going anywhere. You have to stay here to make sure Snap and Josie are safe.”
Terry snorted. “They know more about staying safe than I ever will.” He leaned back on his hands, looking up at Rudy. “Are you taking off again tonight?”
“If I said no?”
“I’m not sure I’d believe you, so I’m not letting you out of my sight.”
