Lyra foot steps echoed along the hallways as she walks closely with the professor towards the headmistress office, Every step she takes makes her heartbeat louder, she wondered why the headmistress sent for her, does she knows about my birthmark, does everyone know except me ? The academy usually alive now felt empty as though the walls themselves were watching at her, she tightened her fist, the professor stopped before two ebony doors carved with wolves surrounding a silver moon.
He knocked twice
“Headmistress Lyra Silas is here”
A calm voice answered from inside
“Send her in”
The professor opened the doors
Lyra’s swallows nervously before stepping in, her mind was restless, the room was unlike anything she has ever seen.
Ancient books blooms around the book
Shelves, blue flames burns without heat inside silver lanterns, strange symbols glowed across the marble floor, At the far end of the room tbe headmistress sat down, she was peaceful, but her eyes tells something different like one who has carried lots of burdens over centuries.
“Come closer Lyra”
Lyra obeyed, the moment she stepped into the centre of the room the wrist on her hands burned, she gasped her eyes widened, a silver light flashed across the room, the headmistress immediately stood, her calm expression disappeared.
“It has begun”
“Lyra stared at her”
“What has begun” instead of answering the headmistress slowly walked towards a dusting paint hanging on the wall, it. showed a young woman with silver eyes and the same birth mark and at asking beside her was a white wolf,
“Do you know this woman”
Lyra nodded in disagreement
“Neither did she”
“Until the world tried to kill her” this has been centuries ago long before you were born, she froze, she felt her blood run cold, suddenly chaotic noises sounded from the academy, books crashed from shelves , loud noises exploded outside, tbe headmistress walked close to tbe direction where she heard a shattered window, she stood there for some moments silent and meditating, she whispers something within herself, Lyra’s swallowed hard “headmistress”
“What was that”
The headmistress didn’t answered instead she raised one hand, she raised one hand whispering some words to herself the shattered glasses floated back to the window repairing itself like nothing happened.
Only then dis she turned
“You have many questions”
Lyra nodded in fear she was still panting
“I do”
“My birth mark”
“The white wolf”
“The voice thst keeps speaking to me”
“The silver light”
What is happening to me?
For a long moment the headmistress simply stared at her
Then she sighed
“There are questions I cannot answer”
Lila frowned
“Cannot or will not” a faint smile crossed the headmistress lips, “you are braver than I expected”
She walked towards an ancient book and removed a worn leather journal clouded with dusts. The dust danced through the air as she opens it. Inside were sketches of strange symbols, ancient wolves, and one drawing that made Lyra freeze it was her “birth mark” exactly the same beneath it were four faded words “The child of silver” Lyra’s heart skipped “what does this means”. The headmistress quickly grabbed the book from her, But that is my-“ “not yet” tbe firmness in her voice left no room for argument , she stared at the headmistress in silence aa she walked down to another cabinet and picked and removed a small silver pendant shaped like a crescent moon,
She placed it Lyra’s palm
“wear this”
Lyra looked at it “what does it do”
“It hides what others jusr never see”
“My birthmark”?
Yes she nodded “for now”.
“Trust me”
Lyra stared at the head mistress for a long time in fear, “trust me Lyra”she added.
As Lyra left the headmistress office, the academy felt different, students had returned to their dormitories, unwavering silence lingered across corven spire Academy, Lila thought within herself I will be leaving this place tomorrow morning I am sick of unanswered questions, half way down the hallway she stopped, she thought of how the parents would react when she narrates all the mysteries shr had undergone in this school, deep down her mind she doesn’t want to return to this Academy which looks exquisite outwardly, but has so many histories and secrets lurking around the academy, her eyes caught Someone standing at the end of the corridor, Kaelen
His silver eyes met hers neither of them spoke for several seconds, silence lingered It was just two of them, Kaelen silver eyes stared at her searching her eyes, Kaelen slowly walked toward her when he was only a few steps away his wolf stirred, she is changing
Kaelen ignored it
Lyra tried to smile
Instead
She looked exhausted
“What happened in there” kaelen asked quietly
Lyra hesitated “I don’t know”
That wasn’t entirely a lie
She barely understood anything thst transpired in the headmistress office
Kaelen noticed tbe silver pendant around her neck, his expression darkened,
“The headmistress gave you that”
Lyra looked surprised.
“You know what it is”
Kaelen didn’t answer instead he grabbed her wrist gently, the moment her fingers touched her skin, the birthmark beneath her sleeve blazed, a pulse of silver energy exploded between them, both of them were thrown backward, Kaelen crashed into the stone pillar, Lyra fell to the floor, at the same instant, every torch in the hallway went out.
Then
A deep ancient voice echoed through the shadows
Not inside Lyra’s mind
Not inside Kaelen’s
This time me everyone heard it
“The moon heir has awakened”
The academy trembled
As Lyra struggled standing up she heard a loud and thunderous silver ray tearing through the sky raising straight towards her.
