12 years ago Third POV The little girl was smiling as she watched her parents saying goodbye to each other. She thought she was travelling with her mum to see dolls and toys all over the world. As her mum held her hand and led her to a car.  She happily waved bye to her dad thinking she will see him soon. Her brothers were away at school. Her brothers are not aware of her departure. If they knew, they would have put up a fight to keep her here. For the first time, their father’s decision is going to be wrong. He thought she will be safe and that she will be back home safe and sound. He was wrong, the moment she leaves everything will change for worse.   Present Bell’s POV  The sun seeped through the window and was shining right at my eyes. Opening my eyes, I checked the time on my flip phone. It was around 7.30 am, I am shocked that I slept this long and am still dry. Sighing worriedly, I got up from the floor and took my clothes from the spare duffel bag given to me by the orphanage. I walked out of the room, stood in the hallway, using my ears to scan for any noise. After a while, I did not hear any noise that told me that no one was home. I slipped into the bathroom and took a quick shower. I dressed up in a long black sleeve shirt with leggings. I wore my torn-up vans, I grabbed my school bag and ran out of the house as quietly as I could. You could ask why I am acting like a thief. It’s a habit I gained in the past few years. I learnt to live like an invisible person, in the houses that I was sent to. It took me 20 minutes to reach the school. I walked into it and avoided bumping into the students. Everyone knows me but not my story. I know everyone and their stories. I am observant and not to show off or anything. I have a high IQ, to be honest, I have already graduated high school and currently doing University online. How do I have the cash, that is where my scholarships came in. I managed to grab the scholarships, thankfully they did not have to contact my guardians about it. I do not want my foster family to know I am smart; they will then try to make use of me or beat me out for money which I have saved up from doing multiple jobs here and there. I always sneak back into the house after my last job. Sometimes I skip school to do some temporary jobs to earn more cash. I am saving up so that when I hit 18 years old, I will leave the house I am staying and go somewhere further and settle into my own home. It has been a long time since I had called a place my home. Home is where you feel safe, where your heart feels warm with love. Home is where you can be yourself with no judgement. Home is where love surrounds the walls. There will be a fight, arguments here and there, but you go to bed knowing that you are loved. “Bell, will you please answer this question and stop daydreaming in my class” an annoying voice brought me back to the class I am in math. “The answer is 52. And you wrote the equation wrongly, it should be two instead of one” I answered her bored. The class laughed at the teacher’s mistake. The door opened up, the principal walked in, scanned the room, and talked to the teacher for two minutes before she pointed at me. This made the whole class look at me like I was in trouble. I just stood up and followed the principal out of the class. He did not speak until we were inside his office. I saw two guys in the room, one of them looks familiar to me. “Bell, take a seat, I have news to tell you,” the principal waved his hand at an unoccupied seat beside the guys. I took it, my face was still emotionless. I looked at the principal in his eyes. He then started to speak. “We just received the news that your foster parents have passed away in a car accident. The foster system decided to dig and look deeper into your family, and they found out that you have a father and brothers, awaiting your return” the principal spoke a bit fast. “Alright, so when do I have to be at their house and for how long am, I expected to stay there?” I fired the question at my principal. Who gulped before answering. “you have to ask your brother for the answers,” he said looking at the guys who were staring at me. “What are your names? And can you answer the questions I asked the principal?” I asked the guys. “We will leave right after you packed. You have to ask dad the other questions. And I am Evan, your second brother, and this is my best friend Aaron,” Evan spoke. “Nice to meet you, Aaron. And we can leave now, I will take around less than 30 minutes to pack. I will meet you at the airport,” I said as I stood and shrugged my bag onto my shoulders. “No, we will follow you back to your house,” Evan stated sternly, “Suit yourselves,” I told them as I walked out. I knew they were following me. The journey took us around 30 minutes that was how far away from my house was.  The guys were whispering as we walked. Their skills in whispering are bad as I was able to hear what they were talking about and I was able to roughly guess what kind of business my so-called family was in. Making to scoff inwardly in my mind.
