CHAPTER 23
“So your sister’s a physician here?” Gloria asked as they made their way toward Orchard Grove Family Medicine, a complex Gloria had become quite familiar with over Kitty’s lifetime.
“Yeah, that’s what brought me to town, actually. She got the job here two years ago, and that’s when I decided to come, too.”
“Where did the two of you grow up?”
“Near Seattle, but we were both done with big cities.”
“Did you decide to move together then?”
“Not quite.” Derek cleared his throat. “Her boyfriend is, well, let’s just say I don’t want to keep him too far out of my sight, if you know what I mean.”
Gloria didn’t know what he meant, but she figured if it was any of her business he wouldn’t be so vague. “How old is your sister?”
