In that instant, the world collapsed into noise.
Steel rang against steel, flesh tore flesh. The forest screamed with bodies and fury as Crestfallen closed in from every direction, their trap snapping shut around us like iron jaws.
I tore forward, claws carving through soil as I slammed into the nearest wolf. His weight barely slowed me before I drove him down, teeth finding his throat, ripping soundlessly as another lunged from the side.
I twisted, pain flaring along my ribs as claws grazed me, the two of us slamming the floor hard on impact. I shoved back with my shoulder, sending him crashing into a tree hard enough to splinter bark.
