17 Dear Lucille, Cheating on an exam? Are you kidding me? When I was in school, there was an honor code. We had to sign the cover of those blue exam books, “Pledge no aid, no violations.” And sign our name. I mean, you’d think it wouldn’t make a difference, but there was something about signing your name to a pledge. These days, I wonder what they do. Do the teachers talk about honesty at all? It’s a lot of pressure on those kids. All about testing and scores. Thinking for yourself – what we used to call self-reliance? Who does that anymore? How is he going to learn to be his own man?
