22 They set out for downtown at five the next morning and drove straight to the courthouse. Eli had packed his suit, and Keiko complained she’d forgotten to bring heels, but he thought she looked lovely and professional. He couldn’t imagine the jury, especially the men, even thinking she was capable of a lie. And there was the stereotype, perhaps working in their favor this time, of the smart Asian girl whose arm always shot up first in class. Everybody knows that girl has all the answers.
