“Don't apply your experiences with Brian to me.”

When leaving the jewelry store, Elena's face was still flushed. Once in the car, Chris asked, “Where are you staying now?” “Riverside Grove, it's close to my workplace.” “I have a villa in Greenwood Heights, which is also near your workplace. It could be our new home,” Chris paused for a moment, “or I could move to Riverside Grove?” Elena thought for a moment and then shook her head. “My place is too small for two people. Let's go to the villa in Greenwood Heights.” Elena currently lived in a two-bedroom apartment. It wasn't large, but she had bought it with the first money she earned from her startup. She had grown attached to it over the years and hadn't moved even when she made more money. Living there alone was fine, but having Chris move in? Elena couldn't imagine the scenario; it would be awkward running into him at every turn. Chris held the steering wheel steadily, “People are already tidying up the place in Greenwood Heights. Shall we go and familiarize ourselves with the house?” “I’ll leave it to you.” Elena didn't care much about these small details. When they arrived at Greenwood Heights, the villa was almost ready. Chris led Elena to the second floor, introducing it as they went. “This is the master bedroom, and the one opposite is the second bedroom. There are five guest rooms downstairs. Over there is a gym, and this is a study...” Elena suddenly stopped, her gaze falling on the room opposite the gym. “Why are there two studies?” “The other one is for you.” Elena peered inside and was surprised to see several mannequins and a sewing machine. Chris's expression remained unchanged, “The room was originally empty. It just needed a bit of decoration.” “Decorated today?” “Yes.” “That was fast...” Elena believed him. After exploring the rooms, Chris took Elena to the master bedroom. “Where would you like to sleep tonight?” Elena, nervous all evening, finally faced the question. Her voice was soft, “We got married in a hurry. Can we take some time to get used to each other first?” “I told you, I respect all your decisions.” Elena was surprised. Chris was so excessively gentlemanly that it made her feel even more embarrassed. She asked quietly, “Can I stay in the second bedroom?” Chris frowned slightly, “The master bedroom is more convenient. You should stay in the master bedroom.” When Chris frowned, he exuded an imposing aura, and Elena instinctively complied with his arrangement. “Alright. What about you?” “I'll stay in the second bedroom. It’s closer to the study.” Elena nodded thoughtfully, imagining that Chris would likely spend a lot of time in the study, making the second bedroom more convenient. But something felt off. The butler, Mr. He, opened a closet. “There are many clothes here. You can wear them tonight. If you need anything else, I’ll call to have it delivered.” Elena glanced at the clothes in the closet, which all looked very nice to her. “No need, there are so many clothes here, even two sets a day would last me a year.” She casually opened another closet, finding a wall of beautiful, exquisite clothes and neatly stacked fabrics below. Elena stood in a daze, immediately recognizing several pieces as masterpieces, priceless in the market. The fabrics alone were worth more than gold! She stared at Chris in astonishment. “These... were also prepared today?” “Yes, there wasn't enough space in your study for the fabrics, so I had them put here.” Chris replied calmly. “Do you like them?” Chris had proposed to her at the Jones residence that morning, and only a few hours had passed, yet he had prepared so much. Is this the power of money? Looking at the exquisitely crafted clothes, Elena’s green eyes sparkled with excitement. She nodded eagerly. “I love them!” For a fashion designer, no jewelry or accessory could compare to a piece of high-quality fabric or a beautiful outfit. Seeing Elena's genuine smile, Chris’s eyes softened. “Shall we go to Sunshine Park tomorrow to move your things?” “I can arrange for someone to help. There's no need to trouble you.” Elena didn’t like bothering others, especially someone as busy as Chris. Wasting their time felt almost criminal to her. “It’s no trouble.” Elena, always considerate, said, “My company isn’t busy right now, but you probably have work. I can handle this small matter myself.” Chris sighed almost imperceptibly, “Elena, may I call you that?” Elena’s ears grew warm. She tried to stay composed. “Call me whatever you like.” “Don’t apply your experiences with Brian to me.” Elena’s smile froze. “I’m not...” Chris’s eyes flickered, his hand resting on her shoulder in silent reassurance. His voice grew even softer and warmer, “With me, you don’t have to be so considerate.” Elena’s glass-like eyes widened, her heart swelling with a mix of sadness and warmth. Not so considerate? It was the first time anyone had said that to her. Faced with Chris’s kindness, Elena chose to be honest. “I just don’t want to trouble you.” “This isn’t trouble. It’s mutual support.” Chris’s gentle guidance continued, then he suddenly smiled. “We are a couple, not strangers. Or do you not want to have a close relationship with me?” “Of course not.” Elena looked up quickly, her voice louder, fearing Chris might misunderstand. “I just need some time to get used to it.” Chris nodded seriously, “My work does keep me busy, and I might not always be there for you. That’s why I want to spend as much time as possible with you now, to get used to each other.” In the end, Elena agreed earnestly.
