SIXBEDFORDVIEW WAS A GIANT subsection of greater Johannesburg, nestled halfway between downtown and the airport. It straddled both the N1 and the N3, two of the biggest and most important highways crossing the entire country. It was a wealthier area, with several upper middle-class suburbs, a small nature reserve, a nice lakeside area and a river cutting through from the west and on to the north of the province. It had also become known, thanks to some recent high-profile cases in the media, as a place where organized crime bosses chose to stay.
