Siren's Song

Episode 5

The princess was sleeping on the couch near the window, putting her hand on the window frame as a pillow. She didn't notice any sounds from her surroundings. An hour later, her nanny was walking around the castle to find her. The guests went to their guest rooms. Her mother and father were worried about her. When the king and queen asked about her, nobody seemed to see her. Only Nanny knew where she loved to stay. Lily was being a child with loneliness. She wanted to play with children at her age. But overprotective parents didn't allow her to play with other children. The servants and maids had children who played around the abandoned garden. The castle's restricted spaces were a great spot to see the children play happily in the garden. However, the queen abandoned the garden. The chief gardener couldn't leave this place as trash. So, he took care of the garden on his own. He mostly cared about two magical trees in the backyard. When she starts playing around the castle, she breaks into the dusty abandoned room of the queen. She ran up to reach the window and used the stool to get up to the bench along with the window frame. When she got there, she put her chin on the window frame to look at the garden. Nanny knew what she liked to do. But the princess kept this secret between them. If nanny told this to the queen, the princess wouldn't talk to her anymore. She was scared of getting a fire from the castle of Evalon again. On her way to find the princess, she noticed the strange black shadow following her. She saw it at the corner of her eyes. She turned back to the hallway and no one was there. The wooden torches on the wall weren't helping enough to see clear at the dark corner of the castle. The chandelier and the candles in the room, but not in the hallway. She moved up to the abandoned wing of the castle's back. She tried to open the door and peek into the room. There she saw a sleeping princess on the couch. She moved her lantern to get into the room. She didn't know what was behind the story of the princess and the magical tree. She knew her duties for protecting and guiding the princess. She put the lantern down and tried to carry the princess back to the room. At the corner of her eyes, nanny saw the strange movement of the tree which rooted at the pond side. She moved her eyes away slowly and took the lantern back to head out of the room. When she closed the door and headed to the right hallway to reach the princess's room, there she saw the strange black shadow again. She thought someone was trying to scare her somehow. She tried to ignore that and headed into the princess's room. And then, she put her on the bed and put the blanket on. The princess wasn't waking up. She moved to the side desk of the princess's bed. She put on the candle holder and lit the candle. The princess is afraid of the dark at night. So, the servants must care to light up the candles in her room. Her room was filling up with candles all the time. Nanny needed to light the candle beside her when she slept.

The morning birds were singing so loudly at the window of the princess and some of them flew into the room. They watched her sleeping face resting on the window frame and chandelier. The princess covered her face with a blanket and moved onto the huge pillows. There were many different kinds of pillow in her bed. The curtain covered her bed but she couldn't sleep because of the noisy birds. A minute later, she shouted to them "shoo, go away and let me sleep for more minutes". Then, her nanny went into the room without knocking on the door. The princess opened her left eye and said "how dare you". Nanny said "pardon me for my rudeness, but I must wake you up right now". The princess said, "I say I need more minutes to fill up my energy". Nanny moved away her blanket and tied the curtains. The princess said, "what are you doing?". Nanny said, "the queen calls you up to have dinner with your fiancé's family". The princess said, "who?". The prince who got engaged to you yesterday, remember". The princess said, "I don't want to meet him and I have a fever". Nanny said "if you have a fever, we have very special medicine to treat you". Princess moved away from Nanny and hid behind the pillows. The princess said, "No, go away". Then, the nanny clapped to call the maids to help her wash the princess's face and dress up ready. The princess used her power to free them from them but she couldn't. Finally, they dressed her up as an elegant princess and put some ribbons on her head. She said, " What're those on my head?". She tried to put them away. Nanny held her hands and said, " That's what every princess does after a marriage settlement". The princess said, "who says I need a prince and a kingdom?". Suddenly, the princess took off all the ribbons and other accessories on her head and neck. After that, she said "done and it's truly me". The princess stood up from the dressing table and headed forward to the door. She looked back to Nanny by saying "aren't you coming". Nanny couldn't control and teach her how the princess lived anyway. All those days, the princess did everything as she said. The queen gave her the authority to guide and teach her daughter, but this child was extraordinary. There wasn't anyone who ever followed her lessons. This child never accepts others' control, guidance and teaching. Nanny followed her all along the way to the dining room. When they went into the dining room, the servants tried to hold their mouths so that they didn't laugh. The king and queen looked at the door and they saw the dressed nanny. They said, "what's going on?". The princess took her seat right next to the king and said "isn't she pretty". Then, the queen found out "it's her daughter". The princess dressed up normally and didn't wear any jewelry or beauty accessories, which showed the standards of royalty. The queen of Patheon was shocked to see her like this. But the young prince and the king laughed out loud. However, she couldn't get away from their interest.

During that time, Lily's uncle and wife joined the private family breakfast time. A cousin of hers sat in front of her near the prince's family. She didn't mind having breakfast with them. But the king of Patheon and the queen didn't welcome them much. The young princess waited for her favorite dessert. The first course was the cabbage fried with egg and a slice of bread with butter and some pollen from fairies. The second course of the meal was grilling beef with magical sauce. The third was guava frosted with milk cream. None of them looked good like those foods. But she loved the forested guava with milk cream the best. She loved to eat vegetables rather than eating meat. Her parents wanted her to eat balanced food. After having breakfast, the kings and queens moved to the private room to discuss the issues. The prince came up to her and she stood up to leave that place. The young prince of Patheon said, "Can we befriend you?". The princess said "I don't want to befriend you". Then, her cousin took the chance to grab the mind of the prince. As the queen of the Abyss taught, the young princess knew that she needed to find the right husband and young background. When she gave a hand to befriend the prince of Patheon, the prince didn't look at her and followed the princess Lily. The age of Lily and Phobe wasn't getting much different but everyone loved Lily more than Phobe. She hated her cousin starting from those days. The day they went to school together in the state of Ventica. That state existed at the border of Moryan where the queen of Evalon attended the royal lessons. The other royal children went to the school which was led by the wizard and the other professional teachers. Lily got the focus not only from teachers but also from students. Lily has many talents and skills. Some of them overcast the spells and discuss the topic with the teacher after they teach. Sometimes she was getting extra sensitive about the guidance on every topic they taught. She learned every day at the library alone and her mother and father allowed her to learn everything. She wasn't good at making hanky stuff and cooking. She got an excellent score in witchy potion class. She never missed the homework and every challenge the teacher made. The headmaster gave her the name of a genius witchy girl. Lily's school name changed to Glinda since the headmaster was there. The schoolmates and classmates often asked her about the general lessons, which made them confused and hard to understand. But there were weaknesses in a few lessons. They were the lessons for becoming a elegant royal. Both lessons of royal etiquette and learning the works of royal women were the hard way to pass the exam and apply in real life. Lily's favorite part was riding the horse and shooting arrows.
