This was the situation I wanted to avoid at all costs the moment I saw the theme. I even cursed Wyatt in my sleep for choosing something so unconventional. The others watched me with hopeful eyes. I cleared my throat, straightening my posture.
“Well, I’m your leader,” I began explaining. “Who else would be the one overseeing everything?”
“I’ll oversee everything,” Sawyer said with a smile. It was the first genuine smile I had seen from him since we were placed in the same team. And it was because of my suffering, too.
I sighed. “I’m not really comfortable…”
“Well, you’re our leader,” he declared in a grand voice. “You should be setting a good example for us.”
Lance smirked and chimed in. “I agree. As our almighty leader, who else could take on the role but you?”
