Chapter 6, First Mission

Rosaleen's PoV The early morning sun slowly crept across the dewey lawn, making the grass sparkle as I stepped through it, my boots collecting small bits of the moisture as it brushed past the wet tendrils of green. My eyes fell upon the Vagastrom garage, my hand grabbing onto the door handle and pulling. The door swung open with ease. I went to step through and ran into a solid person, I yelped and fell back in shock, almost falling but the person had grabbed around my waist keeping me steady. I brought my gaze up, to meet a pair of icy deep blue eyes, my brows shooting up in shock that he even saved me like that. "I- Uh thanks?" I mumbled slightly and Sho sneered slightly, but nodded firmly, his eyes not leaving mine, neither was his hands on my waist until a very annoying individual cleared his throat. His hands instantly retracted and he instantly was out of view of my vision, my jaw ticked as I clenched my jaw. Rolling my eyes at Leo. "Oh good morning Irish girl~" Leo drawled as I stepped back to allow them to leave, my arms crossed as I watched them leave the garage. Sho not meeting my eyes as Leo stared at me. "You're clumsy... Aren't you?" He questioned looking at me quietly and I nodded, my eyes dark and focused. "Let's go Leo, we're going to be late for class." Sho said lazily as he walked away, Leo following after him swiftly and I rolled my eyes again at Leo. Stepping into the garage. The golden morning sun filtered through the windows, painting the garage in golden light my eyes searching again no general admissions students were around. From what I could tell. I strided across the garage, my heeled combat boots clacking against the cement of the garage floor. I came across a graffitied leather couch, my nose scrunching slightly but I sat down anyways, my hands resting on my knees as I waited. "You're here early, have you eaten?" I heard his deep voice behind me and I jumped, turning in my seat to look at him, Alan standing staring at me quietly. I nodded firmly, smiling. "Yeah I had some berries, I am okay." I said smiling slightly and I noticed his brows knit together slightly as he frowned deeply. "Was it enough to sustain you?" He asked, eyes watching me and looking at my features cautiously. I shrugged and stood turning my full attention to him, he was looking me up and down noticing I wasn't in the usual Frostheim suit jacket. Instead I was wearing a combat jacket that squared at the shoulders, and a pair of black jeans that covered the tops of my combat boots. "That's new, never thought I would see a beautiful woman in combat gear like this." He mused looking at me, my neck flushed as I bit my cheek nervously not arguing the compliment I was just given, unsure if it was a compliment. "Okay, so this mission details, here read the files." He handed me the file. I grasped it looking it over, my dark eyes searching the folder. Children and young adults from the ages of 10 to 18 have gone missing, police don't have any clues or connections any of these kids or teens have, minus that they all go to the same school or at least did. I frowned my brows scrunching together as my nose wrinkled unhappily, kidnapping that's what our mission was, to find lost children. I looked at Alan, my brows up in shock as I bit my cheek and he nodded softly in understanding. I sighed, running my hand over my face trying to think, looking at Alan again and my brows up. "So we assume it's an anomaly causing these kidnappings?" I asked brows up and Alan nodded gently, I frowned deeply looking at the file again looking at the photos of the missing I nodded firmly looking at Alan. "Where are we starting?" I asked him, I noticed the corner of his mouth quirk up slightly in the twitch of a smirk and I stared at him waiting as he hummed himself. "Well most of the victims were kidnapped from a park they all frequented, albeit babysitting, with parents, or just with friends." Alan mused as he motioned for the file and I listened, handing him the file again and he pulled up a picture of a young girl. "Before we begin, what's your stigma? So we know how to utilize it." He asked looking at me and I blushed slightly in embarrassment realizing I never told anyone what my Stigma was. "Mimicry, I can essentially shapeshift into anyone minus ghouls I think, it's moreover a glamor. But from what I know your guys stigma's shield you from mine." I explained, Alan's brows lifted up slightly and nodded gently, almost impressed with what my stigma was. "I see, well maybe we could use that to our advantage, see this?" He asked to hand me a picture of one of the general admissions students from his house, my brows knit together as I studied the photo. "I won't properly be able to turn into her, it's only a photo I will have my own voice." I enquired and he nodded firmly in understanding. "That is fine, we just need to get you in. I am going to put a tracker and an earpiece on you, I want you to walk through the park as natural as you can. Sitting on a park bench, feeding the ducks. Whatever is natural for humans at a park." He explained I stared at him, my deep eyes studying him as he planned, my brows knit together as I processed what he said. I sat back down, biting my cheek as Alan said something about grabbing something from his room before we left. I was staring at the photo of the girl, my knuckle pushing into my cheek anxiously as I hummed, in deep thought memorizing every detail of the photo. "You shouldn't bite your cheek like that, its gonna scar" I heard Alan say, I hadn't realized he was staring at me, his eyes pinned to where my hand sat pushing at my cheek I moved my hand from my cheek, blushing slightly eyes still staring at him as his gaze shifted ever so slightly to look me in the eyes. "You get it?" He asked, eyes studying me as I stood. "Imitare." I could feel the slight change, the feeling of floating was how it felt whenever I used my Stigma. I looked down at my hands, noticing the slight skin tone change and looked back at Alan who was standing where he was partially shocked. "Alright, let's go. Remove it and let's get to the train." He quipped motioning for me to follow him, and I did so with no hesitation as we went. It was weird for me to be working with the captain of my house when Cara, Luca, and Kaito were on their own mission. "Why did I end up going on a mission with you? I am Frostheim. You're Vagastrom, aren't our houses not on the best of terms?" I asked, looking at Alan's back as his longer strides permitted him to cover more distance. "I asked, that's why, I normally force the two that I got now to do it. But with young lives on the line this mission is a little more trivial." He explained and I frowned softly, my eyes still studying him from behind. "Take a picture, it lasts longer." Was all I heard from him as my eyes instantly snapped to look elsewhere from him, blush creeping up my neck as we made it to the train. We stepped onto the platform, then onto the train, I sat down but Alan remained standing. "Are you going to sit down?" I asked head bobbing to the side like a bird would looking at a small child, my dark eyes watching him again as he shrugged gently and huffed softly. "No, we are here, let's go." He said stepping towards the door, I shot up and followed him off the train, taking a deep breath and following quickly. "Where are you from Rose?" I heard his voice ask over his shoulder as I followed him, his own boots clacking against the concrete as we walked down Tokyo streets. "Dublin, Ireland." I answered and he hummed his stride lessening slightly as he fell into step with me, I glanced up at him confused as he reached and snagged my arm gently stopping me just as we stopped. "We're here, let's..." He guided me into the bushes just inside the entrance and looked at me, brows raised expectantly motioning at me. "Well?" He prodded motioning again and it clicked. "Oh s**t. Sorry." I squeaked as I sighed and focused, remembering the picture determined. "Imitare." I turned and looked at Alan again, his eyes watching me quietly, studying my features and he hummed softly. From the read I got on his face I didn't quite understand what he was looking at, or trying to figure out. "Take a picture, it lasts longer." I quoted him, winking slightly and his eyes instantly narrowed and looked away, I froze and scrunched my brow together slightly in confusion as to why I even did that. "Rose, can you hear me?" I heard Alan's voice in my ear and I hummed softly, reaching up and touching my ear slightly, as if scratching it to let him know. "Good, I have you completely in my sights, be vigilant and stay safe." He insisted and I walked along the asphalt path, looking around at the nature around me. I could feel Alan's eyes burning into me as I sat down at the bench near me, running my hand through my hair. "Hey beautiful, you okay?" My head snapped up to see a strange man, looking at me quizzically, his sharp eyes studying me anxiety began to prickle as I heard Alan in my ear. "Careful now, just act natural you will be okay." Alan said into my ear as I studied the stranger, he looked like the everyday man. "Uh... Yeah just, relaxing after school. I am stressed about exams." I explained, my own voice soft and honeyed as I spoke. "Understandable. I may have something that could help you." He offered a wink to me and my eyes narrowed slightly as I looked at him, my throat drying up. 'He's referring to drugs!' My inner voice screamed in my mind. "Stay calm Flower, you're okay. Breath, say no. I am here, I won't let anything happen to you." He assured me and I huffed gently. "Well. What do you say?" He probed and I shook my head, my eyes narrowing. "No, I am alright. Thank you though." I said raising my hand and shaking it side to side to solidify my point further. He grumbled and walked away looking over his shoulder at me. "Make sure to keep yourself in my line of sight Flower, get up and go to walk away again okay? I will talk to you the whole time." He spoke softly into my ear, and I hummed, scratching my ear again to let him know I heard him. Alan's PoV I watched Rosaleen walk down the walkway towards the exit, just as I had anticipated a shadow started to follow her. It was the creep who was offering her drugs. My eyes narrowed, this girl clearly knew what she was doing but something was off she seemed out of place. But it clearly was working for the anomaly to take interest in her, I crept forward keeping track of her. The shadow seemed to melt to the other side, following the female ghoul as she was about to hit the entrance of the park. Tendrils of black reached towards her and I yelped into the mic. "ROSALEEN LOOK OUT!" I yelled into the ear piece, but before she could react she disappeared and my eyes widened in fear. "Rosaleen! Rose!" I called out as I walked out of the underbrush, racing towards where she was just walking. I never intended to get her kidnapped, just wanted to get a visual of the anomaly. "Rose!" I yelled out again, worry burned in the pit of my stomach. "Fuck." I yelled, lashing out and hit a tree, knocking half of the bulk of it out leaving a hole. "She can handle herself, she can do this." I assured myself, then it hit me, we put a tracker on her at the beginning of the mission and I fished out my phone. 'Wait, what app was the tracker registered to again...?' I frowned deeply as I scrolled through the apps unsure. "There!" I hissed opening the app and seeing where she was, I raised my head spinning around before quickly following the tracker.
