Chapter 11The endo support group meeting Friday started a little late, as most everyone waited for Lucy and Dan. When they finally arrived, it was obvious Lucy had been crying. Before anyone had the chance to say a word, she choked out a sob, and explained.
“Beth committed suicide.”
Gasps and a hushed sadness saturated the group, as everyone digested the news. Lucy composed herself, and continued to explain.
“Dr. Hammond called me this morning to let me know. Since Beth didn’t have any family, I’m not sure what’s going to happen. She asked in her note for Dr. Hammond to be notified. She took her entire bottle of pain meds last night after it was refilled.”
No one said another word. What could be said? The reality of Beth’s tragedy hit them hard. They had all heard through social media
