He had always been the one to rescue me. The one who cared more than anyone else. “Now tell me everything, Clara,” he said seriously. “I need to know the truth if I’m going to help you. I have to understand exactly how Dorian Gray is involved. Why did he call me and say you’re his mate?” I looked at him with wide, lost eyes—like a stray pup abandoned in the rain. I didn’t even know where to begin. “Clara, Gray is dangerous. You can’t blindly go against his will. And if you really are his mate, he won’t let you go just because you wish it. He doesn’t know how to respect boundaries. You were right—he’s a monster,” Victor said.
