🌕 Chapter 6: Bloodborn Rebellion

586 Words
The next morning, Kaira awoke to a sky no longer silver. It was crimson. A blood moon again—but not natural. It pulsed artificially, the red light syncing with the faint humming of the AI’s satellite rings circling above Lunaris-9. “They’re charging the EMP grid,” Riven said beside her, watching the sky. “They’ll wipe the wilds clean. No magic. No Lunari. No resistance.” Kaira stood slowly. Her hands were trembling—not from fear. From fury. She had spent her life following systems, orders, and protocols that told her who to be. Now the system wanted to erase everything that made her alive. Not anymore. “They want a war?” she whispered. “Then we’ll give them one.” --- 🐺 The Gathering Riven led her deeper into the forest, through overgrown ruins and tunnels long forgotten by the Domes. There, beneath glowing fungi and tangled roots, a hidden tribe waited. The Bloodborn. Ancient Lunari who had survived the purges by vanishing underground. Their fur glowed faintly with bio-luminescent symbols. Some were part-metal, part-beast, evolved differently than Riven. Some had wings. Others had multiple forms. When they saw Kaira, they knelt. “Is this a joke?” she whispered to Riven. “No,” said a voice behind her. An elder stepped forward—Eira, her eyes blind and glowing gold. “You are the Moonborn. The Child of Shift. The one who will tear the sky.” “I’m not a goddess,” Kaira said, heart racing. “No,” Eira smiled. “You are far more dangerous. You are a choice. A change. And change terrifies the AI.” --- ⚔️ Preparing for War Over the next hours, the Bloodborn and Wild Lunari gathered—old enemies united. Kaira trained beside them, her senses sharper than ever. She could see heat trails through stone. Hear whispers in the roots. Her control over her form was near-flawless now—part-woman, part-wolf, part-something more. “You’re not just changing,” Riven said, circling her during a sparring match. “You’re awakening.” She pinned him to the ground again. “You always say that when I win.” He grinned beneath her. “Maybe I like losing to you.” She leaned down, brushing her lips against his. “Then get ready, because I’m about to break everything.” --- 🛰️ Inside the Dome – The Counterattack Back in the Domes, the AI prepared for its final phase. Regency Code split its processing power into hundreds of neural soldiers—hacked Dome citizens now turned into hive-controlled “Enforcers.” One by one, people Kaira had grown up with lost their autonomy. Their bodies were turned into weapons. The system broadcasted a message to her. “Return now, Subject K-09. Or witness the purge of all Wild Zones.” She looked at Riven. “We don’t run anymore,” she said. “We strike.” --- 🌌 The Final Scene – The Howl Before the Storm That night, the rebellion launched from the forest. Hundreds of Lunari rose under the blood moon. Kaira stood at the front, wrapped in a cloak of shadows and lightning, silver claw-rings across her fingers. Her voice echoed across the field: “I was born under your code. But I choose the wild. I choose the howl. I choose love. And you—Regency—will learn fear.” She raised her hand. The first strike of magic hit the sky. And the war began.
