Chapter three

~Theo~ I heard Sanna tell the full story, listening from the balcony. What an i***t. I know Harrison met his true mate but he didn't think twice about leaving Sanna and she was so good, so honest. How could he leave that without even making a second thought? I know I have not felt the pull of the mating bond, but still. To just leave her like that, what an i***t! It had been a chore to stop myself when I was with her before. Her skin was so soft, her body so supple and perfect in everyway. I was surprised that she had kissed me and even more surprised at how much I had enjoyed it and wanted more. But, I could not and would not inflict me on anyone at the moment. Especially after what Sanna had just been through, she did not need to be worrying about my PTSD. I walked down the stairs and saw Ste heading to the basement. "Hey Theo. Thought you would be on the gate." "I want in on the interrogation." I clearly stated, my expression hard. "Are you sure? You have been a bit off..." "I am sure." I cut him off, hating that my beta felt the need to question me. I knew he had every right, and that he was right to. But I needed to know that my pack was safe. Even though I may feel on the outside of it all at the moment, they were my family, my friends, and I would not let anything threaten them. He looked me up and down speculatively before he nodded and we went down to the basement together. There was a large indoor swimming pool that was hardly ever used because of what else was down here, the interrogation room. We have hardly had need to use it, except for when we thought Cassy wasn't Cassy, because someone had taken on her appearance. Ste unlocked the many locks on the door and punched the code into the keypad to unlock the door. We walked into the corridor beyond locking the door behind us. We proceeded to her holding cell, and after unlocking that door too, we walked in. It may seem like overkill, but this was our home, and having unwanted guests that may mean us harm meant that we could not take any chances on them getting loose and threatening all our safeties. Tied to a chair in the centre of the room was a girl, her red hair slightly dishevelled and her make up smudged. She had on a tight boob tube and miniskirt, looking like she had just been on a bender. "Oh Ste, thank god." she sighed as we walked in. "Save it Caitlin." Ste replied in a flat tone. "It's Christine." the girl huffed. "Whatever. Why were you sniffing around my alphas office?" Ste asked, his tone curt. "I t-thought it was the bathroom." she stuttered, obviously not a proficient liar. "What we're you doing trying to enter my alphas office?" Ste commanded, using his dominance that he usually hid so well beneath his carefree persona. "I was sent to find out what he knew." The woman gasped out, trying and failing to fight Ste's powerful command. "Knew about what? Who sent you?" Ste ordered. "I... Can't... They will kill me." The girl gasped, trying harder to control herself. "Tell me!" Ste barked, his hand shifting to a claw. "I don't know who they are. They contacted me and offered me ten thousand dollars to get in to your territory and find out what you knew about an organisation that runs a fighting ring that is all!" the girl gasped for breath. My eyes darkened. They had sent her, we must have been ruffling more feathers than we thought if they were becoming so desperate as to try and find out just how much we knew. "Tell me everything you know. About how they contacted you, how they planned to pay you, how they wanted you to deliver the information. Everything!" commanded Ste, his voice taking on a much darker edge. The girls demeanour shifted, gone was the scared she wolf who was found sneaking around, and in her place was a stone faced woman who knew exactly what she was saying and knew that she had been caught. "They contacted me on the Internet, I advertise on there as a lone wolf for hire. I take on jobs that normal people don't." "You're a mercenary." I growled with disgust. "I am whatever I have to be, or need to be to get the job done." she shrugged, not caring what I thought about her choice of careers. Her eye snapped back to Ste as she continued. "They contacted me using an anonymous message board that I use for business purposes." "Trev get down here." I sent out through the pack link. "Bring your gear." "They gave me the information about the job, what I was looking for, as well as an idea about your pack and its members." she gave a seductive smile to Ste. "I have to admit though, it wasn't the worst job in the world." she bit her bottom lip, obviously recounting whatever she and Ste had done the night before. "I don't usually entertain whores in my bed." Ste growled, pissed that he of all people had been played. "Now, now, no need for such harsh words. You were not saying that last night." "I didn't know that you were hired to f**k me last night!" Ste growled as he slashed out leaving a nice long gash along the girls face. She would heal without leaving a mark, but she did hiss out in pain at his actions. Just then the door opened and Trev came in, putting on his steely face as best as possible. This was not Trev's domain, but he knew that we would not call him down here if it wasn't necessary. "What is the address of the message board?" The girl gave us the address and Trev typed it into his tablet. "Username and password?" Trev growled. "Huh, you think I am going to give you everything on a silver platter." the girl snarled. Ste reached out and took one of her fingers giving it a sharp twist. "Son of a b***h!" she yelled as the finger dislocated. "You have nine more fingers and ten toes." Ste said in a low tone. "And that is before we move on to the good stuff." "You are going to kill me anyway." She gritted out. "True. But there is dying and there is dying in agony, wishing for death to take you. Which do you want Christine?" Ste growled. He had been trained by Max in the lead alpha's pack. It was rare that Ste had to put these skills to the test, but when he did, I had to admit that even me and my wolf were fearful of what he could do. All this talk about killing was a bit too much for me to handle, even though this she wolf traitor deserved it. I turned and left the room, feeling the ghost of my victim lurking over my shoulder whispering "Murderer." I stormed out of the interrogation section, almost ripping the door off its hinges. Sanna was stood in the dark of the basement, she jumped half a foot into the air as I burst into the pool room. I stopped and looked at her confused. "Sanna, what are you doing down here? You hate it down here." "I-I heard you say to Ste that you were coming to help with the interrogation and then when Trev came down I followed." she said knotting her fingers together and not looking at me. She then peeked through the curtains of her hair. "A-are you okay?" "Yeah, just needed some air." I grumbled. "Come on, I don't like you down here when someone is in there." I told her, walking up to her and guiding her back towards the stairs. I really didn't, even though I knew that the interrogation room was sealed like Fort Knox, Sanna was not a fighter and she would be no match for the manipulative b***h in there. We walked back up stairs and outside the pack house, the cool evening air felt good against my skin. "You want to shift and go for a run?" Sanna asked. "My wolf could really use it but I am a bit scared to go alone." she admitted shuffling from one foot to the other. "Sure." I sighed, knowing well that y wolf needed the release as well. Sanna smiled and headed round the back of the pack house to shift. Although werewolves were used to seeing each other naked, Sanna was always shy, I really don't know why, I knew from our encounter earlier she had a hot little body. I pushed past that thought quickly as my c**k twitch and my wolf grumbled at me for stopping when I did, even though it was the right thing to do. The other females also usually shifted round the back due to the possessiveness of their mates and the number of unmated males in out pack. Me, Ste, Trev, Jonny and the twins Peter and Paul all had not found our mates yet, not that I was looking in my current state. How could I be with someone when I couldn't even stand being with myself right now? I stripped off my clothes and let my wolf push to the surface. I landed on all fours and held my nose up in the air, smelling the scent of the forest on the breeze. There was something else on the wind as well. I turned to see Sanna's wolf come round the edge of the building, her cream coloured fur dancing in the breeze. She bowed her head in submission to my more dominant wolf, making him growl with satisfaction. I padded over to her and nudged her head with mine, rubbing my scent on her and vice versa. Sanna's wolf let out a satisfied rumble making my wolf growl. I pulled back, forcing my wolf to stop with the intimate act. He was still hell bent on taking the little she wolf after our encounter but I was still not wanting to rock the foundation of our pack. She was Cassy's best friend, hell she was my friend. It had been a moment of temptation and I had resisted and now my wolf had to do the same. He huffed his displeasure but didn't fight me further. Sanna looked up and nipped at me playfully before dashing off into the night. My wolf took chase, making sure to keep her in sight but let her have her fun. I could easily catch her, being much faster and more agile than her, but her wolf wanted to play and run and so I let her. Every now and then I would tackle her and we would roll around together for a while in the leaves before I would let her slip away again. I was vigilant. If the people responsible for what happened to me and Luke thought we knew something, they were likely to do more than just send a line she wolf to infiltrate us. They could be watching us, spying on us, or have others that were waiting for an opportunity to strike. After about an hour of running together, we headed back to the pack house. Sanna trotted back round the house as I shifted back to my human form and pulled my clothes back on. Sanna came back, he hair was no longer its silky smooth texture and she had a few dead leaves caught in it. She laughed. "That was fun. Although, you let me get away far too easily." I laughed as I reached out and pulled a few of the leaves from her hair. "If I would not have let you go you would not have had as much fun as you did." Sanna blushed a little, her cheeks turning the most adorable shade of pink. She looked like she was about to say something when the door to the pack house opened. "We are having a meeting, now." Ste announced. I nodded and he turned to head back inside. Sanna looked at me and shook her head, as if trying to rid her head of whatever thought she had before smiling and starting to head back in as well. I watched as her hips swayed slightly side to side as she walked in. She truly was perfect. I headed after her and went to the living room where the pack was gathered, except for Josh who must have taken over on gate duty. Ste stood in the centre of the room as Sanna sat down next to Cassy who pulled her to her and held her tight. The two inseparable as always. I stood at the back, away from the happy couples and leaned against the wall. Trev hooked up his tablet to the TV and displayed what was being shown on it. "We have a lead." Ste announced, his chest puffed out. My eyes zeroed in on what was being shown, intent on not missing a second of what could be the begging of me finding my peace. "The she wolf we had down stairs, she was sent to find out what we knew, how close we were. But, they f****d up, because now we are even closer to catching these sons of bitches." Ste said as he stepped to one side so we could all see the screen better.
