DANTE I found her by the waterfall. She sat on the cold rock beneath the massive cherry tree, its bare branches reaching toward the night sky like skeletal hands. The temperature had dropped significantly, my breath fogged in front of my face, skin prickling with goosebumps. I still only had my shirt on. I reached for her shoulder, touched it gently, then leaned in and kissed the back of her neck where her skin was warmest. "Baby," I murmured against her. "Are you okay?"
