“Shaun is missing!” cried Dante as he stumbled into the brilliant white room and fell over somebody’s outstretched legs. He looked around, surprised that the demons hadn’t come with them. “So are Tahima and Stefania!”
Fräulein Schmidt nearly tripped over him but caught herself on the wall. “You take roll better than I do,” she said. “Yes, you’re right, though I noticed Shaun was gone.”
“They ran away,” explained Claire Nicolas. Her shy twin, Angele, offered a quick nod in agreement. “When Mrs. Cassar killed the monster, they ran away.”
“The other monsters didn’t notice?” Fräulein Schmidt smiled. “Perhaps they can send help. Where are we, Mr. Zhora?”
Mr. Zhora stood in a white hallway, looking right and left. He shrugged. “In a building?”
