Mrs. President held her daughter close to her bosom. God knows how panicked she was when she heard of the misfortune that almost befell her.
Susan grinned from ear to ear. “I’m okay mom really. Nothing can really happen to me with uncle butler here with me”.
Mrs. President smiled and rubbed her little girl’s ear. Her daughter was too innocent, which was their aim. As parents, they wanted to shield their daughter from the evil of this world, but she also doesn’t want her daughter to be in danger.
Back in their room, Mrs. President looked at her quiet husband worried. She didn’t know what this meant for her, for her daughter. The last thing she wants would be to cage her daughter.
“I’ve made a marriage proposal to uncle Frauncis. It would be best if Susan and Lionel get married". Mr President said after a long pause.
Mrs President snapped her head to stare at him and gapped at him in shock. She would never believe in her wildest dream that she would hear him say a thing like this.
"What?... It's our duty to protect our daughter Donald. You can't do it and now you want to dump this responsibility on another family?"
To say she was pissed was an understatement. She was beyond pissed.
Mr President frowned. "I'm not trying to shift any responsibility... You know what forget about it".
He rubbed his aching temple.
"What ever, just know that I will not let you, ever! My daughter doesn't even know how to take care of herself properly now you want her to be married and bear the responsibility of taking care of other? In case you've forget Donald. She is just seventeen!!"
She snapped, then walked to the bed, and tucked herself in spite fully.
"She'd be eighteen in 2 months".. Mr President muttered under his breath then walked to lay on the bed. He glanced at his wife who was backing him and sighed again then proceeded to walk out of the room
Susan stood motionless. She was too shocked to move. It never occured to her that the situation surrounding her dad's position as the president would be so bad to the extent where her parents felt so helpless.
Mr. President not expecting anyone at the door, was quite shocked to see Susan. He became worried after seeing her state.
surely she heard everything. At this point, he finally felt that he was stupid to make such a decision.
"Suzy..." He called out but couldn't say anything else.
Susan walked away to her room, not noticing her dad's call. It was as if her should had left her. she didn't know what to think.
Mr. President felt his heart being squeezed, and suddenly felt remorseful. Like his wife said earlier, his daughter was still too young.
children her age are still obsessed with playing and not managing a family.
He was just scared that he may not protect her and end up putting her in danger, so he thought of borrowing power from the top family in Maraba.
Forget about any stupid marriage. He would never allow anything to happen to his princess. He would rather die than let his beloved experience any danger.
Lionel paused just after stepping into his house. Being the private person he was, it was easy to know when someone coming to his house.
Sure enough, sprawled on the couch was his younger brother, watching TV.
"Get out".
Two words, no extra. typical him
Gerald shivered at the cold voice, but was determined to not leave. There was no way he was going back to the Frauncis manor. And his grandpa would hunt him wherever he went.
the only place his grandpa would not touch is his brother's place.
"I got the spare key from your assistant".
Yes he was not asked but he knew it was better to say now.
Lionel glanced at him indifferently and walked into his room.
His gaze, as blank as it was spoke volumes.
Gerald followed him into his room.
"Bro please can I stay with you just for two nights? Grandpa is after me". He pleased with tears threatening to fall.
Lionel pursed his lips. He really hated having others in his space.
"Stir clear". He finally said after much pause.
Gerald's eyes lit. "Definitely! I would make sure not to appear within your sight. Pretend as if I'm not here".
He quickly ran away, incase Lionel changes his mind.
Lionel stood by the floor to ceiling window in a bath robe. His wey hair, a testament that he just got our of shower.
His phone an inch away from his wet ear.
"Bankrupt them". He said to the person on the other end of the line.
Christian rubbed his aching head. Just when he thought that the Buddha has forgotten what happened earlier.
*sigh*. Seems like another family is about to be made homeless.
In the penthouse of a five star hotel,
Jane Rivers was on tenterhook. She admits that she had indeed been hasty.
A man as obstinate as Lionel isn't one that can be conquered in a rush. After much contemplating, she concluded that it would be best to stay off his eyes for sometime so everything could die down.
Lionel was a force to be reckoned with. The last thing she wouldn't want her efforts to go in vane because of her stupidity earlier today.
Just then, the news of Rivers family bankruptcy broke out. Once again, the business world was reminded of this emperor who was capable of determining the fate of almost all the business men in the entire country.
Jane frowned after the call with her father. she would not deny that Lionel bankrupting her family was more than she expected.
Good thing she has a company running secretly under her name. It would not be affected by Lionel's declaration as no one knows she is the owner.
It doesn't bother her much what happens to her father's company. He was never a good father to begin with.
Lionel...
she suddenly remembered when she first saw him. He may not remember, but she did. Back then she was just twelve, sickly and always had a runny nose.
This made other's reject her, and made her an easy target for bullies. On that faithful day, she was surrounded by a group of students both male and female, mocking and throwing things at her.
Then there he was, like an knight in shining armor, he chased them away.
He was her knight, and he would not allow any other girl to be with him except herself.
they were meant to be together
