Days passed and the Sil tower's matter had not been resolved.
The matter with the Sil tower was not a small one, so everyone was almost sure that were done for, or at least even though they survived this, they would not be as strong as they were before, successfully kicking out from occupying the top position in the country.
For many business men, this was a blessing in disguise. It hurt their pride, struggling all year round but not been able to meet up with the Sil tower achievement.
The three Fruancis brother sat in the large study room in the Sil Manor.
Gerald rubbed his eyebrows in confusion.
"What do you think we can do?"
He never thought that something as serious as this would befall them.
"Nothing. Just let it be and go about your normal businesses". Lionel replied indifferently.
Leonardo on the other hand shook his head. He knew Lionel was trying to comfort them. This matter was definitely not simple.
No matter the outcome, it would not be good for them.
He blamed himself for this. It was his carelessness that lead to all this. If only he had jad taken his opponent a bit serious, maybe they would have been able to avoid this disaster.
After the meeting with his brother, Lionel didn't stay in the Fruancis manor and no one stopped him. They knew he always liked leaving alone.
In his house, Lionel no longer his the frown on his face. This matter... He did not know what the outcome would be, but he would not let anyone who dated to scheme against him off.
He called Christian who picked up at the third ring. His voice was hoarse and tensed, making Lionel's frown deeper.
He read the report forwarded by Darius some days ago and he could say that there was zero loophole in the evidence. He was almost convinced that his company was really involved if not for him being the owner.
"Release a statement that we would cooperate with the authorities".
"In the meantime, settle any employee who would way to resign. And do not accept any more deals henceforth."
Christian sucked in cold air. He had known it would get to this point, but he never thought it would really happen. What really went wrong?
"Lionel..."
"Look through the company staff and check if anyone has taken a leave or just left. If there is, get Darius to find him".
This order cut him short, and just as he was about to say more, the line went dead.
Christian was almost going insane. He wanted reassurance from Lionel, for Lionel to tell him that he had everything under control. For him to be given an order that would change the situation yet nothing!
Lionel rubbed his temple, eyes shut brain calculating. He needed to think of a way to save the company, even if its to start from the beginning, he was not afraid of that.
His only worry was his grandpa. He was already an old man who had been dealt with by life and had become weak. This news could send him to the ER, he wished so much to bury it, but it was not possible as it was spreading like a wild fire.
The next day, news of the Sil towers accepting to cooperate with the authorities spread. It was widely speculated that they would be going bankrupt soon.
If they had any proof that they were not involved in whatever they were being sued for, they would not have waited so long. They agreeing to cooperate with the authorities was just their way of deceiving people into thinking that they were ready to fight back.
The whole country was shaken about the fact that this against would soon be brought down, it felt surreal.
Even the President was shocked at the turn of event. He knew too well that the Fruancis family would never involve themselves in such but just knowing would not help them in any way.
He wanted to call and ask what was going on, but his position as the President of the country would not let him do so. It would seem like he was siding with a criminal.. so until they have been able to prove their innocence, he would not be able to communicate with them.
Another news about the Sil family caused a wave again. Patriarch Fruancis had been rushed to the operation room due to severe heart attack.
Some people felt pity for the Sil family, experiencing so many disasters in a roll... Others thought it was what they deserved.
Although the Sil family never used their position for injustice, humans will always be the same; they never failed to kick someone while they are down.
Some other people simply didn't care, and went about their usual activities.
Susan was one of the people who cared. Since receiving the news, she almost didn't believe it. It was impossible to think that a company like the Sil tower would be going bankrupt.
She then thought of Lionel and felt a squeeze in her heart. It was a pity to see all his effort go down the drain. Who knows how he feels.
She suddenly felt a rush of hatred in her heart. Even though she haven't interacted with Lionel much, she understood his personality quite well, and knew that he would not do something as low as to back a porn hall, not to talk of trafficking young girls... If not, she might have been among, after all, she was within the age bracket.
She really wanted to help him out of this predicament, but she didn't even know how to go about it. And she didn't want him to misunderstand her intentions and think that she likes him.
In a private military hospital, the three Fruancis brothers stood at the hall way of the operating room, all tensed and had a frown.
The nurses who occasionally passed by, felt their spirits leaving them when they come across the frightening auras surrounding them.
After hours of waiting, the light outside the OR turned off, signifying the end of the operation. They all jerked up, waiting for the surgeon to coming out, who as if knowing their thoughts, quickly came out.
"How is he?" They threw were all anxious but Gerald spoke first.
"Rest assured he is now out of danger. Although we have to monitor him for 24 hours to be able to ascertain her situation." The surgeon replied.
Leonardo nodded. He watched them wheel out his unconscious grandpa. His once healthy face is now very frail and pale. Looking at him now, he felt a pinch in his heart. Their grandpa was now old.
"When will he be awake?" He finally asked, moving the negative thought to the back of his mind.
"He would wake up as soon as the effect of
