A Step To Far

Chapter Two

Will POV...

Everyone was going to the tribes main compound, only the patrols were excused. I forced my every step knowing what awaited me. Jullian was going to announce his latest plan to reunite Cassandra and my brother. It was killing me, since I could remember, I was in loved by her, and she had feelings for me too, but even if she wasnt going to be with Ethan she could never be mine, but still this hurt like s**t.

When I entered the build I saw everyone in a big commotion, there was excitement in the air, a big event liked this was long awaited and welcomed by the tribe.

I spotted her right away, she was pale and trembling as her grandfather pushed deeper into the chair. I kept looking at her, she wasn’t alright, and I couldn´t just snatch her out of there to see what was going on. Why was she the only one I couldn’t work my powers around? If only I could listen to her thoughts, maybe I would be capable to somehow help her.

Why do you still care you piece of s**t, she´s going to marry your brother. She has too. I kept tell me myself.

Julian was giving his proud speech about the union of his granddaughter to his strongest warrior, I couldn´t be more disgusted. I needed to leave this place before I went insane, but not without her, not as she was trembling and sweating like she was about to pass out.

I shouldn´t have done it, I felt electricity tickle in me veins, as the lights went out and a thunder sounded outside, people yelled scared. I run to the only person whose thoughts didn´t shouted through my mind.

‘Cassie it´s me, come on let´s get out of here.’ I clutched to her shuddering hand and led the way.

Outside, the air was still, the calm before the storm. It´s was supposed to rain tonight, I guess me messing with the electricity in the air didn’t quite help.

‘Will… I can´t… I can´t breathe… I… help.’ She implored.

‘Hey… Hey… look at me. What do you feel?’

‘I… I feel… I feel everything. I feel them all.’ Water was starting to pour in her beautiful hair. ‘They are scared, confused, there´s someone angry, there´s someone who wishes to take us all down, he wants our power, he wants EVERYTHING.’ She was starting to yell, whenever she used her empath powers it was like some madness started to creep in. It really terrified me that without control she one day could lose herself inside someone else, being a telepath, I could understand that to some degree.

‘Cassie, I´m going to take you out of here, just focus on me, all right. I´m right here.’ I gripped her legs and grabbed her. Getting as far of the people around us.

I walked home with her in my arms, midway the rain start to pour and the lightnings stroke hard. It wasn´t my doing this time, none the less I could feel the power as each one of them fell on earth, fuelling me like crazy.

She was stopping with the shivers, but the crying come in next, my heart sunk. I used to get overwhelmed with the thoughts of everyone else, but then again I guess it just isn´t the same as emotions, because I could only hear them but my mind remained my one, Cassandra was able to feel them, as it was her own emotions playing out inside of her.
