The next day, on set.
When Isabelle arrived at the dressing room that morning, she found a bouquet of irises on her seat.
She froze for a moment, then picked up the flowers.
There was a card tucked inside the bouquet.
"I still love you as I did at the beginning."
There was no signature on the card.
But Isabelle recognized the handwriting.
It was Elijah's.
Only Elijah would send her irises.
And today was August 29, the day she and Elijah had officially started dating.
Isabelle frowned.
Just then, footsteps sounded behind her.
When she looked up, she saw Corbin.
Corbin's gaze quickly fell on the flowers in her hand.
Without any hesitation, Isabelle threw the flowers into the trash and said coldly, "Please pass a message to Elijah for me. Tell him not to bother me again."
With that, she left directly.
After Isabelle was gone, Corbin bent down and picked up the flowers.
When he saw the familiar handwriting on the card, his brows sank, and his expression darkened.
He clenched his fists and cursed under his breath, "You just won't stay gone!"
Suddenly, a gust of cold wind swept into the room.
The door slammed shut with a bang.
Corbin was startled, and a chill ran down his back.
"Elijah, it's you, isn't it?"
He tried to make his voice sound calm, but there was still a tremor in his tone.
From somewhere, an extremely cold, low laugh sounded.
Corbin abruptly turned his head and looked at the mirror.
In the mirror, a familiar figure appeared behind him.
Elijah was covered in blood.
His chest looked as though it had been pierced through by something sharp, and there were several bloody holes in his body, still continuously bleeding.
Corbin instantly stiffened.
Because this was exactly how Elijah had looked when he died.
The next second, Elijah suddenly appeared beside him.
His hoarse voice sounded right beside Corbin's ear.
"I'm back. Are you scared, you little bastard?"
All color drained from Corbin's face.
But his eyes were filled with venomous hatred.
"You're already dead. What do I have to be afraid of?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly pulled a talisman from his pocket and tried to press it onto Elijah.
But his hand was abruptly fixed in midair by a powerful force, and he couldn't move at all.
Under Elijah's gaze, the talisman turned to ash once again.
An icy hand closed around Corbin's throat and lifted him straight up.
Just when Corbin thought he was truly about to be strangled to death, Elijah let go.
Corbin was thrown to the floor and kept coughing.
Elijah stood before him, looking down at him from above.
On his face, which was stained with black blood, those long, narrow eyes looked cold and eerie.
Just then, an eyebrow razor suddenly flew up.
It stabbed fiercely into Corbin's left arm, then slashed downward, carving a long wound across his arm.
"Ah!"
Corbin screamed in pain.
Blood immediately gushed out.
Elijah looked at him coldly, his voice like a sentence being passed.
"First, don't touch her. I have plenty of ways to make your life worse than death. Second, don't mention me in front of her again!"
The next second, Elijah's figure disappeared.
The door was also opened.
The moment the person saw the blood all over the floor, they immediately screamed.
"Someone, come quickly! Something happened!"
Isabelle had not gone far. After hearing the sound, she rushed over.
When she saw Corbin's blood-covered arm, she froze in place.
That familiar cold presence still lingered in the air.
This scene was far too familiar.
He had done it.
A chill slowly seeped out from Isabelle's chest.
Her face turned pale, and she instinctively took two steps back.
Watching as the medical staff sent Corbin into the ambulance, Isabelle thought again of how strangely disgusted that "person" had seemed with Corbin before.
What kind of grudge was there between them?
Why did he hate Corbin so much?
*****
The investor had actually gotten injured on set.
But not only did the director refuse to halt production, he became even more anxious and began speeding up the filming schedule.
That night, after Isabelle finished filming, she walked to the entrance and was about to hail a taxi.
Just then, a black car stopped in front of her.
"Isabelle."
The car window rolled down.
The person sitting inside was actually Elijah's fiancée, Serena.
Isabelle froze for a moment, feeling only that trouble had come again.
Ever since Serena and Elijah got engaged, she had come to see Isabelle many times.
Every single time, it had been to humiliate her.
But the Serena today was completely different from the refined, beautiful woman she used to be.
Her face was haggard, with dark bruising under her eyes.
She looked as if she had not slept in a long time, her condition so poor that she resembled an addict.
Isabelle frowned and took a step back.
"Miss Galloway, what is it this time?"
Serena took out an exquisite jewelry box and shoved it straight into Isabelle's hand.
"This 'Heartfire Token' necklace is the one I bought from you back then. Now I'm returning it to you!"
Serena was almost looking at Isabelle with pleading eyes.
Ever since Elijah died, she had not had a single good night's sleep.
The master had said it was because her engagement with Elijah had not yet been dissolved.
As long as she gave away this object that represented love, she would be fine.
Isabelle looked at the necklace in front of her and froze for a moment.
This was the token of love Elijah had given her back then.
It was said to be a one-of-a-kind custom necklace.
Later, Serena had come to her and forcibly "bought" the necklace from her for ten thousand dollars.
But what meaning was there in returning it to her now?
Isabelle pressed her lips together, disgust showing on her face.
"You should return it to Elijah. This belongs to him, not me."
With that, Isabelle turned to leave.
But Serena suddenly leaned out of the car window and grabbed her arm.
Her eyes were terrifyingly red, and she looked as if she was about to go insane.
"No! I can't return it!"
A strange feeling suddenly rose in Isabelle's heart.
She frowned and asked, "Why? Where is he?"
