CHAPTER 6 Cassian's POV There's something about her. And a part of me is more than scared to even figure it out. Her eyes glow in the dark, and I can't help but lick my lips, more than tempted to sink my teeth into her neck again. “You have to go home,” I say, and she wraps her arms around herself like she is cold. Like she is scared. She looks towards the direction of the memory erasing water again, and she takes a step away from it. I almost smirk at her, and tell her not to bother. I am not going to dip her head in there. For some reason, she doesn't want to forget me. I can't ignore the little tug in my chest at that revelation. “I don't have anywhere to go. And my car… you know what happened to it,” she says, and I give her a small nod. “You want to stay here?” I ask, and she nods, before looking up at me through her lashes. She is finally calm. The mate bond couldn't have calmed her, can it? “Come with me then,” I tell her, and I take her hand in mine as I lead her through the compound. Her chin is tipped again, and she is looking around, maintaining eye contact with every f*****g person who looks back at her. “Help me,” one of the wolves who got in an argument earlier, turns to us, with blood gushing down his arm. I am more than willing to keep moving, but Nova's feet are rooted to the floor. She looks at him, before slowly extending her hand, touching lightly on the wound. The both of us stand there as the wound slowly closes itself. Even the omega that asks for her help takes a step back, and so do I. My eyes are narrowed at her. How does she manage to do that? She just touched the injury. She can't be… No. More eyes turn in her direction, and some give her an uneasy look. Others even go ahead to bow their heads. f**k, this isn't normal. “Come on,” I say, pulling her along anyway. Even she is looking at her hands, trying to figure out what is happening. I manage to take her into my own house, before leading her to the guest room. “You can stay here,” I say, and she presses her lips into a thin line, looking at the furniture. “You're finally going to let me sleep?” She asks, and I narrow my eyes at her. She is back to that fierce tone that I have missed about her within the few minutes she has gone silent. “Do whatever you want, but you can't come out of the room.” She takes a step forward, pressing her chest to my stomach. “Or what are you going to do about it?” “Don't. Come. Outside,” I say, and she swallows hard, finally seeing that I’m being serious. “I can't stay in here because you want to lock me up.” Before I even know what I am doing, I press her to the wall, and her eyes widen as my hands wrap around her neck like it's nothing. “What are you doing?” She asks in a whisper. “Are you going to come outside?” I ask, and she gives me a small shake of her head. “Good girl,” I say, heading out of the house finally. That’s when Jason, my beta approaches me. His eyes are narrowed. He is the best person I could have as a beta. The both of us grew up together, and I already know that he can never betray me. “Where have you been?” I ask, and he gestures towards the club house. “Watching everything. What the f**k do you think you're doing?” He asks, and I c**k an eyebrow. “What are you talking about?” I ask, and he runs a hand through his hair. “Making her your mate? I'm sure every single person in the pack can see the mark on her. What do you expect them to think? She's not just a mate, she's a weapon.” I know exactly what he means. She is powerful in her own way, but I don't even know what she is. I am not sure that she knows about it either. Goddess, what have I gotten myself into. One thing I know is that I am not going to just let her go out there. She is my mate. I just got to meet her after so long, I am not just going to let her go. “You didn't just mark her out of longing, did you?” Jason asks, and I shake my head. “I can feel it. The pull between the both of us.” He closes his eyes, nodding like he understands. For the first time in a while, I am genuinely confused. “But you have to hide her. You've seen just how many times we've been attacked this evening. She's… something. And I can't get rid of the feeling that they want her.” He isn't wrong. But where am I supposed to hide her? For some reason, I want to protect her with everything in me. “I've heard you,” I say calmly, and my eyes are fixed on his back as he walks away. I head back into the room, pushing the door to Nova's room open. She is sitting on the bed in her panties and bra, as she folds her clothes in a neat pile. Her hair is fallen over her back, and she doesn't even turn back to look at me before speaking. “You don't know anything about privacy?” She asks, but I am not even in the mood to give her an answer. “I have to put you into hiding,” I say, and her hands slowly ball into fists at her side, as she whips around, facing me. “I'm allowing myself to be treated like a liability to you, and now this?” She asks, and I narrow my eyes. “You're not safe here.” She gets to her feet, taking a step towards me, tipping her chin. “I won't do more than staying in this room.” “We'll see,” I say, and my wolf growls within. I want to run my tongue along her skin. “I'll love to watch you try.” She says. I am just about to reply, when a knock comes at the door. I open the door without hesitation, and come in contact with one of the omegas. “Is there a problem?” I ask, and his eyebrows are furrowed together. “Alpha, there's a word for you. The council are on their way. They've heard about the human girl.” My throat slowly closes.
