Raina had taken a walk in the evening, she didn't need a soothsayer to tell her that her grandma would certainly lose the job at Mr Rowland's house,
How would they feed? How would Diego get money for his treatment? she had a lot on her mind and decided to take a walk to try and clear her head,
As she walked through the lonely streets of St. Patrick's Park, she thought of ways to salvage the situation, Mr Rowland had kicked her out of his home after she almost got him killed and would certainly be enraged to see her again so she couldn't go beg for his forgiveness,
She had just walked past a clubhouse when she stopped in her tracks with her eyes fixated on a poster on the wall,
"Vacancy!!!" it read, "money doesn't come easy, but work for Schmoke and be financially liberated! Waitress wanted!"
She walked up to the poster and stared at it desperately, she had never worked as a waitress in her entire life, and this would be her first time, she wasn't sure how suitable she would be for the job but was willing to try, If her grandmother was going to get fired on her account then getting this job was a necessity.
As she walked into the busy club, she started to find her way to the bar while avoiding cat calls from drunk men who were reeking of Alcohol and sweat, one tried to pull her by the arms but she avoided his grip and continued walking carefully, as she got to the bar counter, they were two bartenders there the music was blaring and she could see they were busy attending to craving customers,
She tried to get their attention by calling and waving hysterically but it seemed impossible, they were only interested in taking orders, holding small chats with customers and performing a mixologist show,
She hurriedly grabbed a glass from the counter and pushed her way to the front where she dropped the glass on the counter in front of them causing one to finally pay her attention,
"Hello miss, what can I get you?" he hurriedly asked,
"Nothing, but please can I speak to you?" she asked desperately, but he shot her a curious look as she quickly added, "privately,"
He looked at her sternly then turned to his partner and with a single nod, he looked back at her and instructed, "This way,"
They headed to a corner close to the VIP section and away from the loud music, "how can I help you Miss?" he asked
"Can...can...Can I speak with the manager?" she stuttered,
He raised a brow and assessed her from head to toe, looking at the simple and unworthy clothes she had on, she was a very pretty face and even her horrible dress couldn't cover up her amazing slender but curvy features, but still, she didn't look like the sort of guest, Mr Schmoke, the manager received.
He folded his arms, cleared his throat then asked, "And why is that?"
With her head bowed she started, "I need a job," "any job at all!" she added more desperately,
"oh! I see," The bartender said thoughtfully, "Alright, wait here, I'll be right back with Mr Schmoke, the manager,"
She nodded in gratitude as he walked away, she started to pace thinking of ways to convince the manager of how important getting a job was at this crucial moment, even if it involved begging, she wouldn't mind.
The manager of the Club was Mr Schmoke, he was a Stuart-looking middle-aged man, he had a remarkable gap between his two upper milk teeth which affected how he spoke,
He couldn't converse without baptizing the other person with spittle in the process.
One significant thing about Mr Schmoke was his obsessive love for money, he didn't joke about his money and saw making more money as a top priority.
As Raina waited there for Mr Schmoke, she kept pacing worriedly, unknown to her that she had caught the attention of a man in the VIP section, a man in his early fifties, he stared at her longingly and lustfully, wondering how he might have never seen her here before, to him, she looked familiar, but he couldn't remember ever meeting her before.
She was a pretty face, with beautiful curves but looked like she was in some sort of distress, and nothing thrilled Jack Triffling more than a damsel in distress, it was a major turn-on for him,
Signalling his guard and right armed man, who stood by the entrance, he whispered something to him when he drew nearer,
The next second, the bodyguard was walking up to Raina,
She stopped pacing the moment she sighted him walking up to her, he was a big man with a scar across his face, he looked frightened and intimidating especially for Raina who was of a smaller stature compared to him,
"The boss wants to see you!" He said in a hoarse and commanding tone,
"Mr Schmoke?" she stuttered, "But the bartender asked me to wait..."
"This instant!" Scarface commanded making Raina shiver in tears as she suddenly recognized him, he was the same man who had attacked Mr Rowland's home,
she wasn't used to frequenting places like this, her grandmother had warned her to avoid loud or crowded places, especially at nights as they were often dangerous places for sweet girls like her,
in fear, she stuttered, "Please don't hurt me, Mister, I don't want any troubles, I just want to see the manager,"
"Didn't you hear what I just said?!" the scar-faced man yelled, gripping her arm violently,
"Let me go!" Raina fought his grasp, "Let go of me!!" she fought,
I'm sure you heard the lady!" Came a masculine and familiar voice from behind,
The scar-faced man turned around, revealing Chris Rowland and two of his bodyguards, he looked from Raina to the scared man furiously,
"Why not pick on someone your own size next time!" he blurted out as the scar-faced man hurriedly let go of Raina who started to rub her wrist as she stared from her attacker to her saviour whom she immediately recognized as Chris.
