The Midnight Howling

The Alpha's Agony

Third Persons POV:

Five days have passed after the attack and the death of the luna of the Midnight Pack together with her Beta. Nobodies were retrieved, the explosion was too great.

The Alpha is on verge of losing his sanity he didn't eat, he didn't sleep, he didn't talk to anyone even on his betas. He just sits there on the ground where the explosion takes place, staring blankly to nowhere hoping that his mate will appear from the bottom part of the earth.

Rain or shine he was there crying his heart out, howling the most painful sound but on the sixth day, he lost his consciousness.

Beta Thorn carries him back to his mansion. The beta understand all the agony, the pain, he shared it all with his Alpha and fellow members of their pack. He too is also crying carrying the pain of losing his luna, but he needs to be strong for his Alpha.

Days passed by and the Alpha is awake, screaming the name of his luna, tears flowing on his cheek. Beta Thorn is quick to go in his side, calling the salutary wolf Techno through his mind link.

(*salutary wolf is a herbal wolf*)

"Thorn! " The Alpha speak in his almost lifeless voice.

"Speak Alpha, I'm here at your service. "The beta answered pressing his lips tightly to stop himself from crying.

Looking at his Alpha, eyes on deep circle skin is paler than usual, lips full of crack and sticky long hair, he ignoring his health this past few weeks.

"I can't connect to Wolfrik!" Tharn looks sadly at his beta, tears begun to flow again.

"Your wolf needs healing too Alpha, give him the time he will come back for sure! " holding his alpha's hand, the beta tried to comfort him.

"Why Thorn?! I should have died with her! " Tharn clenched his hair, sobbing hard.

"The moon goddess has a reason why she allowed this to happened on our pack Alpha, and everyone is in pain of losing our luna, but we will perish if we will lose you also Tharn. Watching you like this everyone has no energy to move, some said they had no reason to live anymore. Yes, we didn't lose you in a battle but we will lose you in pain! " Beta Thorn cannot hold himself anymore, he cried so hard, kneeling in front of his Alpha. Tharn just looks at him emotionless but tears in his eyes keep flowing.

A soft knock on the door pulls them out of their reverie. It was Techno. Thorn got up and walk towards the door he opened it facing the herbal wolf with his gloomy face.

"Come! " he walk back to the side of Alpha, Techno followed him.

He bows his head to Alpha to show respect.

"Alpha, here is the herbal medicine for you. This is just for your body's quick healing, you are unconscious for four days. " Techno diverts his gaze to Thorn, the beta not at him to continue.

"I need to examine your pulses Alpha, can I? "

The Alpha looks at him and just nod.

Techno checks the pulses on his arms and neck, taking a deep breath he reaches for the bowl of herbal.

"You must drink the medicine alpha, it can help your body to recover quickly. "

Tharn reaches for the bowl, and drink it in one go, the two wolf look at him with pity.

After emptying the bowl Techno bow down and was about to leave when the Alpha speak.

"How were the warriors that wounded in a battle? "

Techno is on verge of crying clenching his palm to prevent himself from crying, answering his Alpha with all confidence.

"The enemy used silver arrows and bullets soaked in wolfsbane, some of them are still recovering in our hospitals! the others who recovered quickly are helping the sentinels to patrol the borders. " Techno is smiling this is the first time that the Alpha ask about the situation of the pack.

(*sentinels are packs guards *)

Tharn diverts his eyes to his beta and gives his order.

"Gather all the information about the explosion, find out all the details related to the attack and also! gather all the elders for a meeting tomorrow I will make sure I can connect to Wolfrik before the full moon. "

The beta attentively listening to his Alpha's words.

"Clean the area of the explosion and bring all the skilled omegas to design the place, we will make that area your Luna's grave. "

Thorn and Techno are just staring at him, making sure that they are not hearing things. Betas eyes brim with tears when the Alpha held his hand and tap his shoulder.

"Let's give your Luna the justice she deserves, we will take our revenge! let's give them the pain that they deserve. "

The two wolves kneeled in front of him and mind link all the pack members that the Alpha is well. The roar and howling were heard inside the forbidden mountain.

The next day everyone is busy preparing for tonight's full moon.

Tharn is in the shower for quite a minute now, washing the dirt on his body, drenching his skin to the cold water wishing that it may take away all the pain. Gritting his teeth, thinking of his revenge.

He let the water run through his body calming his senses, he decided to step out of the bathroom.

Sitting on the edge of his bed, no energy to move anymore.

"Tharn! " that sudden voice on inside him, the voice of his wolf.

"Wolfrik! " sobbing on his wolf's presence, which makes him relief happy and excited.

"I'm sorry for cutting my link, I just need to calm myself or else I will end up in darkness. "the wolf said.

"Thank you for coming back rik, thank you! And I'm sorry we lose her, I failed to protect our mate. " Tharn cried his heart out.

"We will be fine, I just wish that the moon goddess will grant us a second mate. Anyhow, we will get through this. "

Tharn feels different the way his wolf speaks, it's more authoritative and every word felt like a stern warning.

"I'm planning to get our justice and revenge! " Tharn said.

"Of course! They treat us like a monster, then a monster we will be! "

Tharn look at his reflection in the mirror, he gasped when he saw his eyes, it's glowing red but it has a shade of gold on the outer Iris, it's different from his eyes before.

Lost on his own accord, a sudden knock pull him out to the real world.

"Alpha, everything's ready all elders are waiting! " it's his beta Lee's second in command.

Tharn stands up and fixes himself, walking through the door greeted by his 2nd beta.

"Let's go. " he walks past through his beta not minding the smile on his face.

Walk into the meeting room, everyone stand up and greeted their Alpha bowing their heads, they wait for their leader to sit first. Eyeing his every move.

"First thing first, how's the pack borders? " Tharn on his stoic face and baritone voice.

"We gather the sentinels this morning, no rogues on sight, no shadows lingering from the outside, everything is quiet we fix all the border warnings and device, together with the other Gamma they do the patrolling day and night. " beta Thorn report.

"All hospitals in the city are safe and intact, no suspicious people around! ".it's beta Lee.

They discuss all that matters regarding the safety and recovery of the pack, plannings for a drastic change, now that they don't have a luna, business proposals, and other important stuff.

Night came in a full moon, everyone is gathered to the packed hall. In front of them is their Alpha in all his glory, they gasp when they saw that the eyes of their Alpha change in glowing red with a shade of gold on it.

"There will be a drastic change in our lives from now on since we lose our beloved luna. " Tharn paused for a while, swallowing the lumps that formed in his throat "those who want to stay, you can stay, those who want to leave you can leave, but one thing I want to assure you, WE. WILL. GET. OUR. JUSTICE! " Tharns voice echoed through the whole territories, full of authority and scary.

The whole pack howl for their Alpha, as the full moon, shines on them. They will rise again, more powerful.
