Episode 6 Children's joy

1545 Words
Today I was going to visit one of the largest orphanages in the city, which I had chosen myself. I had a few of them to choose from the city hall list, but I focused on where the most children go, and at the youngest age. I wanted to check what their needs are and what they are missing. I also decided to organize a collection for them because I know that there are people of good will in this world who want and like to help. I was almost ready to leave when my phone rang. At first, I wondered if it could be my stalker and felt fear, but quickly looked at the display on my cell phone and saw Marco's number. -Halo- I spoke - Part of Amelio is me, Marco. I'm calling to make sure you're okay - he greeted me and I breathed a sigh of relief at the sound of his voice. -Hello Marco. I'm fine, I have a meeting at the child care home soon-. After our last conversation in his office, I felt relieved, he agreed to help me find this guy, and I'm not alone with this. Marco, as he promised, sent one of his bodyguards to me the next day. His name was Alex and he was nice. He didn't say much but he got along with John and that was important to me. The other two bodyguards guarded my house at night. I was grateful to him for it, because it made me feel able to sleep peacefully. -I know their plans for today because the guys from security report to me every day-I heard a smile in his voice. Eventually, he will make a mistake and we'll find him, but don't worry, my best people protect you. They have to make sure that not even one hair of the head falls off. -Thank you for everything. I don't know what I would have done without you. I would probably be afraid to leave the house and I can't do that. I have my commitments that I made and I cannot let go of them now. I knew that the one who followed me would probably come back again, but maybe he would be a little scared when he saw that I had more protection than before. -No thank you, it is not for me that I want to catch him as soon as possible. If something happens, remember let me know. I want to know about everything, even about one deaf phone, OK? - -Okay, no problem, I'll let you know for sure-I replied. - That's good, Amelia. Do you remember when I invited you to dinner last time ? -I remember so and I also remember that I agreed-I smiled a little because I guessed what I was going to -That's why I would like to invite you to dinner tomorrow night. What do you think ? Do you have time? - he asked and I was happy with his proposal. I liked him, I felt at ease in his company and I owed him a debt of gratitude for what he did for me. -Sure with a nice willingness to go with you to dinner-replied -I am happy to . I'll pick you up tomorrow at seven in the evening. - -I'll wait-. I said goodbye and hung up, then left the house. Security waited outside. John opened my car door and Alex was behind the wheel. We hit the road and I wondered where my acquaintance with Marco would lead me. I was curious if he would admit my affiliation with the mafia to me. So far, he hasn't revealed anything but I felt that Anna was right about him. The mafia in this city had total power, but I never had any contact with these people. I was afraid of them like most of the inhabitants, they ran their own business and nobody wanted to get in their way. I would never suspect that I would meet someone from this environment, and certainly not their main boss. I have to admit that I was not afraid of him. On the contrary, he has completely opposite feelings to me. He attracted me as a man and I was looking forward to tomorrow's dinner. I was curious what he really was under this mask of an official businessman. A few minutes later, we drove up to the building of the child-care home , and when I got out, I saw children standing in the windows, staring at me with curiosity. I smiled and waved at them. I have to do everything I can to make sure that my visit here is not in vain and give them the support they need, I thought. An old woman stood in the doorway and greeted me with a smile on her face. -Good day Mrs. Amelia, we are very happy that you visited us. My name is Teresa White and I am the director of this institution. She said and I gave her my hand and said with a smile, Good morning Teresa, I am also glad that I can be here. I would love to see how you live here and meet the children. -Of course, I would very much like to show you around and introduce you to everyone.-She turned and we walked along the long corridor. At the end there were stairs leading to the first floor and there were rooms where the little ones slept. Then I was shown around the kitchen, dining room and at the end of the common room, where the children spent their time playing. The building was in fairly good condition, but, of course, a renovation would have come in handy. The director also mentioned that it would be useful to have more rooms for children, because the space was decreasing and the number of children was growing more and more every year. I was sad because I realized that there are more and more of them and most of them have neither a home nor a loving family. -How many children are adopted? -I asked because I wanted to know if some of these kids have found their dream home- -You know how it is. People most often want to adopt an infant and younger children. The older ones are a bit heavier.-Well, that's what I thought, I could have guessed that. I felt sorry for them, each deserved a warm and loving home. -Can I meet the children? I have small gifts for them, I asked. I bought some sweets, toys, crayons and coloring books for them. I hoped he was happy. -Yes, our pupils are in the common room. We informed them that we would have guests and they could not wait for you. I was glad that I would be able to give them some joy. I asked my bodyguards to bring gifts from the car and I entered the common room myself. The children sat at the tables and looked at me curiously. I sent them a big smile, waved and said hello. John and Alex came right behind me with big bags and I started giving gifts to the children. They were so happy, they opened the packages with such joy on my face that I felt tears under my eyelids. I felt like Santa Claus. It doesn't take much to give them joy. For the next hour, I talked with the little ones, hugged them and we played hide and seek. I didn't care what the others would say, or whether such behavior would overwhelm Miss World, it was important that they were happy. When the children went to dinner, I wanted to talk to the director of this place to find out what they needed most. I knew that there was a need for renovation here because there was a shortage of places to sleep, but I wanted to know more. -These children, apart from clothes or toys, lack warmth and love. They are hungry for contact with other people who can show them love and interest. Exactly as you did today. –The woman looked at me with a smile on her face and my heart felt warm that I could give them some of me. -Thank Mrs. Teresa, I'm glad that I could come a little help . I will try to visit you regularly and I am going to work on a collection of the things you need. I will also try to find an investor who will help you enlarge and renovate this building. -Thank you, really, it means a lot to us, every help counts-the woman shook my hand and walked me to the door. We said goodbye and I got into the car assisted by my bodyguards. I could count this day as a successful one. I was tired but also happy because I had done something good for others. The faces of these children were still before my eyes, they were so innocent and that they didn't need much to bring a smile to their faces. I promised myself that I would support this place not only financially, but I would try to help the children find their dream home.
