SYLVIA
I had been forced to wake up by the maidens who were currently forcing an undersized wedding dress into my body.. I looked at myself in the mirror in front of me, my face, and my hair looked different.
I didn't even recognize myself anymore. I looked beautiful.. No one would even think that I'm heartbroken or I've just lost my virginity to a stranger, also, being forced to get married to someone I do not love.
I feel like my world is crashing, my heart is beating fast and I'm wondering if this path is the one for me. I was not allowed to decide what I want, all because I'm a Mafia's daughter..
I placed my hands on my mother's locket which I'm wearing on my neck and I prayed.. “Mum, please come through today.. don't let dad force me into this” I s**t my eyes briefly and opened them the moment I was done.
After ten minutes, I was all set for the wedding and I was escorted by the bodyguards outside the dressing room. I didn't see my father before leaving, they explained to me that he was already at the church waiting for me..
I was led into one of my father's luxuriously customized cars, expensively designed to impress…
During the ride to the church, my heart beated. And when we arrived, I could feel my world crushing right in front of me. Nothing was going to interrupt this suspicious day, surely…
The ceremony had begun with my presence and there were so many people present. I couldn't believe it, it seemed as if the wedding had been preplanned. The guests were mostly Mafia families and elites who were my father's closest business associates and also the Tores's business partners.
I lowered my face as I walked in, accompanied by my father who held my hand as we approached the altar where the priest and my soon-to-be husband was waiting..
I was boiling inside while my head was aching.. this was really going to happen..
The sound of the music emanating from the piano was lovely, but everything was uncomfortable for me. Even the man I was to marry. He was unexpectedly handsome with an enigmatic aura around him. But I wasn't too sure that he also wanted me.
Seeing how he looked at me with disdain. I was also forced into this. I wanted to yell and tell him.. I wished for him to reject the marriage as much as I wanted to, but the ceremony started right after I arrived at the altar.
We faced the priest and the ceremony started…
The priest did everything accordingly, from the reading of scriptures, to leading us into pronouncing our vows. I did mine and he also did his. This was my wedding, but it felt like I was walking right into a cage..
“Do you accept Mr Thomas Tores to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love him in sickness and in health until death do you apart?” The priest asked.. Although I wanted to decline, it wasn't my choice to make. “I.. I do” I responded in a stutter and I felt my heart shattering into pieces.
“Do you accept Sylvia Martinez to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love her…”
“I do. Let's get this on with, I do not have the time” Thomas rudely cut off the priest's sentence short.
“Does anyone have something to say about this union? If you do, please speak now or forever hold your peace”
The whole hall was silent and no one objected.. The priest was about to continue when the gigantic mahogany double doors pushed open and someone interrupted the wedding. “Wait” his family voice spoke, making me turn towards the entrance…
The elegantly dressed man, sleek black hair, straight jawline, handsome with a cold look approached us… Few bodyguards stepped outside to stop him but they were powerless, they couldn't even touch him as he still continued towards us ..
I could recognize him in one glance as the man I slept with last night. What is he doing here? Is he going to disrupt the wedding? Will I get exposed?
The face of my groom turned gloomy as soon as the man reached us at the altar. “What are you doing here, Andrew?” My groom seemed defensive of me as he quickly stood in front of me blocking me from the man.
The hall was filled with noise, people gossiped amongst themselves concerning the distraction.. Andrew halted his footsteps in front of Thomas and he stretched out his hands for a handshake. The smile on his face was obviously fake..
“Congratulations on your wedding, brother. I'm sorry for coming late.. I was trying to buy you a befitting gift” He said..
The looks on Thomas's face remained the same, it didn't look like these two men were on good terms even though Andrew was pretending, it was easy to see through him..
Wait! Did he just say brother? Andrew Tores and Thomas Tores? My heart beated faster inside my chest as Andrew turned his face to me and smiled.. “You must be the lucky bride who is finally here to tame this gigolo..” Andrew mockingly remarked.
Thomas couldn't control his emotions and he punched Andrew on his face, causing a huge fight between them.
