Sapiens couldn’t contain his thrill. He moved fast, helping the sentinels move the old woman from her mare to Percy’s back at the Prince’s command.
“Hey, hey, easy,” Sapiens told the sentinels. He looked around to see why Fabian wasn’t helping him when he saw he was too busy trying to calm the woman’s mare. Once her owner had been taken away from her, the mare grew restless and started thrashing. The crowds cried now and then as the mare forced them to step back.
“Fabian, be careful!” he called out. “She’s pregnant!”
“Your Highness!” Fabian shouted to be heard over the noise. “What would you have me do with her?”
“Will you take her and follow me?”
“Yes, Your Highness.” Fabian tried to bow a little, but he couldn’t afford to move his eyes from the overly energetic mare.
