It had been a long day. That strange old lady and her mare did not make it end any faster.
Fabian was beaten in front of his mother, got labeled a liar indefinitely, lost his job, had a fight with his best friend, and, last but not least, a mare tried to kill him!
The mare was pregnant, Sapiens had pointed out. She wouldn’t be able to gallop to the palace, and the old lady needed a physician, fast. Fabian—in a foolish whim of chivalry—voluntarily offered to take the mare and catch up with them.
What was I thinking? he cursed. Definitely not that the mare would go frantic and push him with her entire bodyweight off his horse—not once but twice—and attempt to stomp him with her forelegs, not to mention try to run away a handful of times—about a hundred, to be accurate!
