EPISODE 16
The Blackwood estate had never felt this tense.
Not even when Damien was 15 and crashed the Ferrari.
Not even when Victoria first moved in.
Today, the air was heavy.
---
#### ARRIVAL
Damien’s car pulled up at 10am sharp.
Him. Freya. June.
Richard was waiting in the study.
Older. Thinner. But his eyes were clear today.
No tea.
"Son," Richard said.
"Dad," Damien said.
He looked at Freya. "This is Freya Carter. My fiancée."
Richard studied her. Then nodded. "She has good eyes."
Freya smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Blackwood."
"Call me Richard," he said.
And then June.
"Dad?" June whispered.
Richard opened his arms. "Come here, baby girl."
June ran.
And for the first time in years,
Richard hugged his daughter like he meant it.
---
#### THE TRUTH
They sat.
No lawyers. No Victoria.
Just family.
"I know," Richard said first.
Damien froze. "Know what?"
"About the tea," Richard said. "About the will.
About Victoria."
Silence.
"I’ve been sick for 3 years," Richard said.
"But not that sick.
I let her think I was.
Because I needed to see what she’d do."
Freya squeezed Damien’s hand.
"Why?" Damien asked. Voice tight.
"Because I was a coward," Richard said.
"After your mother died, I didn’t want to be alone.
Victoria filled the house.
But she never filled my heart.
And I knew.
I always knew she was using me."
He looked at June.
"But I didn’t know she was hurting you."
June shook her head. "She didn’t hurt me, father
She just... didn’t care."
Richard’s eyes went wet.
"I’m sorry, kiddo.
Both of you."
---
#### VICTORIA ARRIVES
The doors slammed open.
Victoria.
In designer suit. Smiling.
"Richard, darling! You didn’t tell me we had guests—"
She stopped.
Saw Damien. Saw Freya. Saw June.
"Oh," she said. "Family meeting?"
"Sit down, Victoria," Richard said.
She sat. Crossed her legs.
"What’s this about?"
"The company," Richard said. "The will.
And you."
Victoria laughed. "You’re being dramatic."
"Am I?" Richard slid papers across the table.
Bank statements. Doctor reports.
Photos of her buying the "herbs."
Victoria’s smile dropped.
"This is fake."
"DNA test too," Damien said.
"From the hospital.
The ‘heart medication’ you gave Dad?
It was arsenic. Low dose. Every day."
Victoria stood. "You can’t prove—"
"We can," Damien said. "We have everything.
Recordings. Texts.
Your messages to Isabella."
Victoria turned to Isabella, who was standing in the corner.
"You told me—"
Isabella looked away. "I’m not going to jail for you."
Victoria’s face twisted.
"You ungrateful—"
"Enough," Richard said. Voice like steel.
He stood. Shaky, but standing.
"Victoria Hale.
You are no longer welcome in this house.
You are no longer my wife.
And you are going to prison."
---
#### THE FALL
Victoria tried one last time.
"Richard, I love you—"
"You love my money," Richard said.
"And I let you.
But not anymore."
Security came in.
"Take her," Damien said.
Victoria screamed as they dragged her out.
"This isn’t over!
You’ll regret this!
I built this family!"
The door closed.
Silence.
Then Richard collapsed into his chair.
Exhaled. Like he’d been holding his breath for 15 years.
"It’s done," he whispered.
"It’s done," Damien said.
---
#### AFTERMATH
The lawyers came next.
New will.
Everything split:
50% to Damien.
30% to June in trust.
20% to charity.
0% to Victoria.
Richard looked at Freya.
"And you," he said. "You’re family now.
Whether you like it or not."
Freya teared up. "I like it."
Richard turned to Damien.
"Son. I’m proud of you.
For choosing her.
For choosing June.
For choosing to fight."
Damien nodded. Couldn’t speak.
---
#### NIGHT
Back at the mansion.
Dinner.
All 4 of them.
No Victoria.
No lies.
Just food. And laughter.
June fell asleep on the couch during a movie.
Damien carried her to bed.
Freya and Damien stayed up late.
On the balcony.
Looking at Nairobi lights.
"You okay?" Freya asked.
"Yeah," Damien said. "For the first time in years.
Yeah."
He took her hand.
"Thank you.
For walking into my life.
For not running when it got messy.
For choosing me."
Freya leaned on him.
"I choose you.
Every day.
No contract."
He kissed her forehead.
"No contract," he agreed.
Below them, the city was loud.
Above them, the stars were quiet.
And for the first time,
Damien Blackwood felt free.
