My Fault

{Andromedus’ POV} “I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry..” I whimpered, as I sat at Arabella’s bedside for yet another night. “This is all my fault.. you did this to protect me.. when are you going to wake up?” I asked, holding her soft fragile hand in mine. Shitari was able to get all of the glass out, it took hours of carefully pulling each piece out one by one. We all said to he** with our father’s wishes, and pooled our power to heal her. She was completely healed.. but she still hasn’t woken up. It’s been two weeks.. and she still laid here, unmoving. I wanted nothing more than to see her turn and smile up at me. I was wrong for being so awful to her.. I should have been kinder, I never even got to hear her calling my name so sweetly the way she did with my brothers. I never got to hold her in my arms, and have her smiling up at me. Instead, I chose anger, and bitterness, allowing my disinterest to control my actions, and try keeping me from even gaining a moment of happiness. I brushed her hair away from her face, scanning over her gentle features. “Please.. come back to us..” I whispered, gently leaning over and placing a soft kiss on her forehead. I heard the door open, and in stepped Shitari with a bag of saline, and medications. “Why isn’t she waking up Shitari?” I asked, my voice coming out hoarse and strained. He sighed, walking to her bedside and replacing the saline bag. “Honestly?” He asked, scanning over my features. I nodded, pleading with him to continue. “I don’t know Andromedus..” he said, taking the old bag and tossing it in the trash. “She’s completely healed.. every injury she had, is completely closed, for some reason, she just isn’t waking up.. maybe something is wrong with her head.. though, we should have been able to heal that too..” he said, looking down to her. He leaned down, kissing her head softly before standing back up. “I was just beginning to let my walls down with her.. and now.. now I may never get the chance again.” He said, staring down at her. He straightened up, and looked down at me. “Theluun found something.. a way to end our father’s reign.. I know that you’re mourning.. we all are, but I think we should be focusing on our battle strategy. For now, let Feryn take care of Arabella.. we need to find a way to take down our father before he comes back to finish the job.” He said, taking off his glasses and wiping them off, before placing them back on his face. “She needs us Andromedus, but we need you too.” He sighed, before turning and leaning. Ever since we got Arabella stabilized the only goal has been to find a way to take down Arcanum. We knew that he’d be back to finish her off.. but none of us could allow it. We had to find a way, any way to keep her safe. Never once in any history has a human earned the respect and trust of the four kings, but her bravery, and her determination to keep Arcanum from hurting us.. it was the final straw that broke the camels back. She earned the respect, and the hearts of all four of us, and we decided then and there that no one would ever hurt her again. I sighed, standing from my seat and kissing her head. “I’ll be back..” I said, leaning down and kissing her head, before standing and making my way out of the room. I walked down the hallway and into the war room, seeing my brothers all gathered around the table with books, scrolls, and magic items scattered about. “Finally..” Theluun groaned, standing from his spot. He walked over, engulfing me in a hug, before pulling back and looking at me. “I think we have something..” he said, smiling and turning back to the table. He grabbed a book, holding it out to me. “A weapon.. a sword.. it says it needs to be forged from the weapons of fallen warriors. Infused with the magic of four kings, and wielded by nature itself. We’re thinking that Shitari is the one who’ll have to wield it. He is the god of nature after all.” He said, setting the book down. “We have to get weapons from one of the guarded battlefields of my past.. imbue it with the blood of a vir***, use the fire from the stars to forge the sword together, and the handle must be made from the wood of the ever burning tree in the dark forest.” He said, as if any of this was easy. I nodded. “And how do you expect to get to any of the battlefields? They’re guarded by grims.. and they don’t care if you’re royalty or not.” I said, pinching the bridge of my nose. “Do you think that this is even really doable.. I haven’t been able to manipulate the stars in centuries.. and you expect me to use one to help forge a sword?” He gripped my shoulder, staring into my eyes. “I know this isn’t going to be easy..” he said. “Not easy? I don’t even think it’s possible!” I snapped. He gripped my other shoulder, holding both of them and shaking me slightly. “I know.. but we have to try! What other option do we have Andro?” He asked, his gripped tightening on my shoulders. “It’s either this.. or we let Arabella go.. father won’t let her survive Andro.. she insulted his pride.. and questioned him in front of his devout followers, we’re lucky that she is even alive now, and if it weren’t for our fathers demented sense of humor, she wouldn’t be!” He shouted, releasing me. “Fine.. I’ll work on trying to get back in touch with the stars.. but it’ll take some time.. I’ll have to mediate..” I said, nodding before turning back to leave the room. “But I’m not leaving Arabella’s side.. not until she wakes up.. so I’ll be meditating in there from now on. If you need me, you know where to find me.” I finished, walking back to Arabella’s room and taking my seat beside her bed once again. “I’m here Arabella.. and I’m not leaving until you wake up.”
