{Arabella’s POV}
“Please.. please, don’t kill my father..” I whimpered, staring up at the two of them. Theluun and Shitari staring down at me.
“He did this to you.. and yet you beg for us to spare his life? Why?” Theluun asked, his voice deep, full of hatred.
“I.. I’ve lived with my father’s abuse for years.. I’m used to it now.. but killing him would be too easy! He’d be getting off easy when he should suffer for all of the terrible things he’s done!” I shouted, obviously catching them by surprise.
“What do you mean?” Feryn asked, stepping over and grabbing my hands. “I thought you weren’t angry..”
I shook my head, tears spilling down my face. “My father.. he’s an evil man, but I know him. He’ll drink away the money he got for selling me.. and when he does he’ll have no one to turn to.. he’ll be completely alone, and miserable, with not even me around to take out his frustration on. He’ll be stuck, broke, and alone, suffering the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.. and with no way to get a single drop.. he’ll lose his temper, and lash out at everyone.. he will pi** off all of his friends, until he is completely alone in the world. Pain, and misery his only company. When that happens, I will sleep peacefully, even if it’s from my grave.” I said coldly, looking down at my hands. “It’s the best revenge.. because it will keep tormenting him until he dies.” I smiled softly up at them, and only then did I realize that they were looking at me, their expression completely confused, and confounded. “Sorry.. I-I shouldn’t have said anything.. your highness’..” I bowed, turning and noticing the others from dinner watching me as well, a smirk across both of their faces. I looked around for a place to hide, but could find nothing. So instead I slowly walked back up to my room.
As I passed the cold, angry man from earlier he stopped me, his hand placed softly across my ribs. “Don’t let anyone off easy.. they don’t deserve it.. especially humans. They deserve the worst possible punishment.” He smirked down at me.
I looked up at him, a cold expression on my face. “Then are you happy with my punishments? Or should I tell you the worst of it?” I asked.
His smile faltered as he stared down at me. “There is more?” He asked, a bitterness in his voice.
A single tear slid down my cheek as the memories flashed in my eyes. “So much more..” I whispered, choking back a sob as I shook him off and walked into my room. I closed the door, and walked to the bay window opening it up and looking down. The fall wouldn’t be high enough to kill me.. even if I wanted it to.. which right now, I dreamed of death.
I sat down, breathing in the fresh air as Feryn walked into. “Arabella, get away from there!” She said, leaving the door open.
I turned to face her, smiling softly. “Come sit with me Feryn, the air is beautiful, you can smell the flowers on the breeze, and hear the forest coming to life.” I said, holding my hand out to her. “Listen..” I whispered, and soon you could hear the animals in the forest chirping, and chattering. “It’s beautiful.. isn’t it?” I asked, smiling at her as she sat down beside me.
“Yes.. it is..” I heard a deep voice from the doorway and turned to see the four kings staring at me. Shitari stepped inside the room.
“Would you like to listen with me your highness?” I asked, smiling softly to all of them.
“I would.” Shitari said, stepping closer and sitting down on the floor beside me.
“No, no, no.. you shouldn’t sit in the floor.. you’ll catch your death of a cold! Come sit here, I’ll move..” I said, trying to get up, only then did I realize my nightgown was caught on the windowsill. It pulled me backwards as I fell out of the window. I gripped the windowsill holding on for dear life and looking up.
Feryn grabbed my hands, but they slipped and I went crashing down to the ground below me.
“Are you okay?” She shouted out the window, as Shitari peered down at me.
I couldn’t help but laugh, I fell on moss and it didn’t hurt at all, it was just, funny. I laughed loudly, sitting up and wiping the tears away from my eyes. “I’m fine..” I giggled. “I landed on moss!”
Suddenly the sound of a stick crunching caught my attention. I went to stand up and felt my ankle twinge. “Sh**!” I whimpered as I looked around. Suddenly seeing large eyes staring at me from the forest. “Um.. you guys don’t happen to have a pet do you?” I asked, nervously backing up against the wall as a massive wolf stalked out of the tree line, and began running towards me.
I held up my arms expecting to be mauled to death, but instead I felt the hot breath of the beast as it licked my hand. I moved my arms down, looking up at it. A massive black wolf, deep amber eyes staring down at me. I held out my hand, petting across its chest. “Beautiful..” I whispered, as its head dropped to mine, it licked my face and I chuckled. Suddenly Feryn and all four kings came bolting outside. I rubbed the wolf’s snout with my hands as it rubbed its face against me. “You’re a good boy aren’t you!” I smiled, kissing its snout.
“That’s.. impossible..” Theluun said, walking up next to me. “Nyx is trained to kill everyone who isn’t us, if they step foot in this garden..”
NymKarna shook his head. “You’re mistaken brother.. he’s meant to kill anyone who has any ill intentions or will towards us..” he said, looking down at me. “You really don’t hate us..”
I shook my head. “Why should I? There are plenty of people I hate.. but you’ve all been nothing but kind to me.. besides him.. but being an asshole isn’t grounds for me to wish you harm.” I said shrugging. “You’re a beautiful boy..” I said, turning my attention back to the wolf and kissing his head as he kept head-butting me, knocking me over into Shitari’s arms. “Sorry..” I said, smiling up at him.
His face turned a cute shade of red as he helped me back up to my feet. “D-Don’t worry about it..”
