Chapter 7

Wake up Leah. Akita is saying in my head. Come on, listen to me for once. Wake up.

No I moan to her in my head. I feel like I got hit by a semi truck.

Akita just rolls her eyes at me but I slowly decide to open my eyes. When I look around I am shocked to not see my bedroom. I look around confused before realization hits. We were attacked Kiki!

And for the record, we are badass. They almost tore off our leg and it's already healing! She says.

Of course that is what your excited about I say to her smiling.

That's not all I am excited about. Look at that delicious beast she says and looks off to my left.

I follow her look and see Liam, sound asleep in a chair next to me. He handsome face is peaceful and he is snoring softly. He does look delicious. He is covered in dried blood but I don't see a scratch on him. Images of five and six rogues attacking him come into my mind.

He really is a God I tell Akita.

She just purrs her agreement. I look at the clock and it's 1:23 In the morning. I look down at my legs and pull the covers back. I see 3 large cuts through the side of my right thigh. I see where 2 more were but they are already healing. I try to move my leg and yelp in pain.

Liam shoots up "Leah!" he says.

"Sorry Liam! Go back to sleep! I just tried to move" his blue eyes are looking me up and down. "Liam how long have you been her?"

"All night. I havent left since I brought you in" he says with a shrug.

"Liam you need to get some rest! Why don't you go home? I'm fine" I feel awful that he's been here so long.

"Do you want me to go?" He asked softly.

"Well.... no...." I admit. "But you need some rest. you fought like a badass".

He chuckles. "You fought like a badass too Leah. I want to stay, really. Maybe I will have Doc bring me a cot?"

"As long as you get some sleep" I say back. "Wait you brought me in?" realization just hit me about what he had said. He had brought me into the hospital and I was naked. My cheeks start burning.

Liam laughed at me response. "We covered you in a blanket first".

"Goddess" I murmured under my breath.

Owen walks into the room then and comes straight to my side. "Hey Princess" he says lovingly and kisses my forehead. "how are you?"

"Honestly...." I look into his eyes and he looks serious. I better tell him the truth. "I hurt like hell, my body had to have been hit by a train and I have to pee."

To my surprise Owen laughs. "Let me call Doc and we will get you to the bathroom" he says.

"No need to call" Doc says coming in as well. "I heard her wakeup. Leah you need to use the boys to support your weight. Boys come over and gently lift her."

Liam and Owen come to my sides. Owen is on my left side and Liam on my right. Gently they lift me up and support me while I put weight on my left leg. They help support me weight and take me into the bathroom. April comes in to help me also. When I'm done I call out and Owen comes back in to get help me. Liam is right there to help pick me up and lay me back in the bed.

I didn't use much energy but I am exhausted after that. The boys can see it in my face. "Alright sis. Get some rest" Owen's says nodding to Liam. "Here is some clean clothes. I figured you could use them."

"Thanks" Liams says and goes into bathroom. The water runs as he takes a quick shower and changes clothes.

"Wait! Owen I just remembered something!" Images from the attack start flooding my mind. "They said they wanted the pure white wolf. Is that me? Why do they want me?"

"Leah" he says cutting me off. "We do believe it is you that they want but we don't know why. Dad, Liam, Jake and I are trying to figure it out. We believe it has something to do with the legends of the white wolf. But we don't know."

"That's enough for tonight" Doc says. "Leah you need rest to heal" he says looking at me, Liam comes out of the bathroom then, no more blood on his body and clean and smelling musky and delicious.

"Yes doc" I say. "One last thing. How's mom and dad?"

"Mom knows your too stubborn to quit. She is doing better than dad. I will let them know your awake in the morning" Owen walks over to me and kisses my forehead again. "Get some sleep sis".

I settle back into my bed and Owen leaves. A slight shiver runs through my body as I think about the rogues trying to take me. Instantly Liam is by my side.

"Are you cold? Do you need anything?" He asks.

"I am alittle cold. Maybe a little scared too" I confess to him. "If you wouldn't have decided to run with me Liam, I would be gone".

"You would have held your own until backup came because your strong. And the best fighter we have. But Leah, I swear nothing will happen to you. I will always protect you" he seems like he wants to say more but he stops.

He gently lifts my body and scoots me over in the bed, then lays next to me so I can feel his warmth. I cuddle into his side feeling heat radiate through me again.

"For being a wolf, how am I so cold" I ask starting to feel sleepy.

"Your healing Leah. Now rest" he says. My eyes close and laying next to Liam I feel safe and warm. I drift off into a deep sleep.

Hours later I wake next to a hard body. I look up at Liam laying next to me sleeping still. I feel well rested and feel better than when I woke up this morning. I pull the cover back to look at my leg. The 2 small cuts are gone but the 3 deeper cuts are still pretty bad.

Liam wakes up because of my moving and I look up at him. "Hey sleeping beauty" I tease him.

"Me sleeping beauty!?! April came in and checked your vitals and you didn't budge. She even removed your oxygen tube" he says laughing. "I think you are sleeping beauty".

I look away slightly embarrassed. "I was comfortable" I said with a small shrug.

Liam gets up and and stretches. "You talk in your sleep" he says smiling mischievously.

"No I don't" I say back to him but I can't help but smile at how his eyes shine when he's laughing.

"Okay then princess" he says stretching his arms over his head. "I guess it was someone else talking about badass fighters and big arms."

"Goddess! I did not" I am absolutely mortified. I don't even know if I dreamed at all but I have been known to talk once in a while.

Liam just chucked but didn't get another word in before Olivia and Alex came busting through the door.

"Leah! We were so worried about you!" Lulu starts fussing over me as soon as she comes in the room.

"You seem to be in good hands Leah, I'm going to check in with Owen. Olivia do not leave until Owen or I come back please" Liam says and with a quick smile to me he heads out of the hospital room.

I stare after him as Olivia starts fussing with my dirt covered face and dirty hair that somehow ended up in a braid. "I am happy to see you too Lulu" I say smiling at my best friend.

"I heard you were a badass" Alex says with a smile. "Did you really take on 7 rogues at once?"

"Honestly Alex! She is in no state to answer your dumb questions!" Olivia's eyes are glowing with anger. "She probably hasn't slept, she's got to be in pain, she looks like a hot mess and you want to start asking about her fight".

Alex backs down a little but he gives me a look like he wants all the detail. I cant help but laugh at my friends, thankful to see them.

"Actually I slept pretty good once Liam was next to me" I say and immediately regret it when I get looks from both of them. I quickly add, "and it was 6 rogues at one time".

Olivia just stared at me. "How long was Liam here Leah?" She has calmed her voice but I know she'd dying to know all the details.

"Ummm.... All night I think." I look at her with a shrug. Olivia let's out a squeal and I can see a million questions swirling around in her head. "Lu can we talk about this later?" I ask pleading with her.

"Please talk about this later" Alex says with a mad look on his face.

Olivia huffs out angrily, "Fine! But your not avoiding this Leah Marie" she says my middle name so I know she is serious.

"Okay. okay" I say thankful that it has been deferred for now.

"Alex go get me some warm water and a rag" Olivia demands to Alex. He walks into the bathroom and Olivia whispers, "Really!?! All night!"

"I think so Lulu! I was blacked out for most of it! Drop it for now please!" I am literally almost begging her.

Alex brings the water and a rag and Olivia begins to wash my face and my arms. I didn't realize what a mess I probably was until Olivia showed up.

We all made small talk while she worked. They told me that the pack had been alerted that I was in the hospital and recovering. Owen said I couldn't have any visitors at this time so everyone had gone home for the night. He lifted that rule for family.

After about 20 minutes of Olivia fussing over me we hear voices outside the room. "That's my sister! Yes I came back for this!" someone was yelling. Before I saw him I knew who it was.

"KODY!" I yelled and then into my room walks my brother Kodiak. He is the smallest of my brothers but still not small at all. His blue eyes look like ice fire and as he walks in looking for me. I desperately want to get up and hug him but as soon as I move I get shooting pain down my leg and tears come to my eyes.

"Ow! Shoot! Kody!" I say as he walks over to me. Mom, dad, Owen, Jake and Liam are right behind him. Olivia grabs the dirty water and her and Alex sneak out the door.

Kody bends down and wraps his arms around me. "Why are you here? Goddess I miss you so much!" I can't help as tears fall out of my eyes.

"Easy princess" he says kissing me on the forehead. "You get in one of the biggest fights this pack has ever seen, damn near get your leg cut off and you want to know why I am here" he says and he is already checking my vitals, looking at the stitches and asking to see x-rays.

"Kody I'm fine" I start to tell him but I can't even pretend I'm not happy to see him.

"I know your fine" he says. "Your the toughest out of all of us" he says motioning towards our brothers. "But healing can be a funny thing, especially for werewolves. I am here to make sure you listen and follow docs orders."

"Kody I promise to behave. I cant pull you from school! It has to be close to finals!" I am feeling a little desperate because I know how important this is to him. my heart rate starts to pick up a little as the desperation i feel deepens. If I hadn't been so weak he wouldn't have to be here to protect me.

"Whoa whoa Leah calm down. It's ok" Kody says to me and Liam and my mom come to my side.

"Leah take a deep breath" Liam says to me soothingly. I lock eyes with him while my mom rubs my hair and my heartrate slows back down.

"Leah everything is taken care of. I promise. I wouldn't leave school without a plan" Kody has lowered his voice and is looking at me honestly. "This is important to us, but you are important to me. I had to see you for myself. I will just be a few days".

Knowing he is leaving makes me sad still but I feel better knowing he didn't sacrifice school for me. "Okay" I say to him beginning to feel tired again.

Mom undoes the braid in my hair and pulls out a brush and starts brushing my hair when Doc comes in.

"OH good! Everyone is here" he says. "There will be no confusion. I want Leah to stay another night. Everything is looking good but her blood counts are still low. They probably will be for a few days, but I want them higher before she leaves. She will get tired fast, her body is healing. She may feel faint, dizzy, light-headed, all this is normal. Lots of water and lots of electrolytes. Leah will need to stay off her right leg for at least a week. The rogues claw hit bone and it needs to heal properly. Then for two weeks after that, light work only. No shifting until I clear you. Does anyone have any questions?"

"I can't shift for at least 3 weeks! That's totally not fair!" I can't help but be upset. Akita is howling in my head knowing that she can't be free for at least 3 weeks and honestly my heart breaks for us.

Doc looks right at me, "Leah if you shift before that bone is ready it could break. And I don't know how the break would go. It could be an easier fix, it could be worse. No shifting" he says.

I know he is doing what is best for me but I can't help as tears fall from my eyes. Mom continues to brush my hair and Owen wipes my tears away. After no further comments Doc walks out of the room.

"I need to get back to work Lea. Please listen to Doc. He only wants to help you" Owen says and he kisses my forehead.

Jake kisses me next and agrees with Owen, "Akita will understand. You guys need to heal. I am patrolling so I need to go. Link me if you need me" he says and leaves behind Owen.

Kody, Liam and my parents stay for awhile. Mom washes and brushes my hair and then puts it into a French braid again. Her and dad leave with Kody to the house so Kody can get some rest.

Liam and I sit in silence for a while before I break it. "Liam..."

"Yes Princess" he says looking up from a journal he is reading.

"Why are you staying with me?" I ask him slightly embarrassed and not sure if I want to know the answer.

"Because I just want to know your safe" he says softly. "I will leave if you want me to."

"No! please don't leave" I say hastily. "I was just wondering".

See, he's doing the brotherly thing. Making sure I stay put and do what I am suppose to I say to Akita. I cant help but feel sad as I realize he is only here being a good stand in brother.

After I eat some lunch I tell Liam I am going to nap and doze off.
