Chapter 5

The next morning I woke up early and the nights events played over in my head.

maybe I shouldn't have led Shane on I said to myself.

Leah it was fun. You work hard, you're allowed some fun Akita says to me.

I guess. I still feel bad but I'm not ready to talk to the boys. They were out of line.

Akita nods her head in agreement. I get up and throw on some sweatpants and a sweatshirt and sneak down the stairs and out the door. I jog to the forest line and hide behind a tree and strip my clothes. Then I shift into my wolf and we run.

I give Akita full control and she can't help but run faster feeling the dirt on her feet. There is still some dew on the ground and it smells so good. After 40 minutes of running we stop at the creek to get water.

Owen's voice comes through the mind link, are you going to talk to me today?

I don't say anything to him.

Leah come on he says.

I still ignore him.

Fine, we will come find you he threatens.

Leave me alone I finally say with a sigh. I'm not ready yet. That is something we have always said to each other when we still needed time to process or be upset. It was our sibling code for leave me the f*** alone.

I then felt Owen end the mind link, leaving me alone. Akita lays in some green grass enjoying the smell and the tranquility. Suddenly we hear a noise and our ears perk up but we don't move. Akita sniffs the air and we catch Liams scent before we see him.

He sent you didn't he I ask Liam slightly irritated

Honestly, no. I was out for a run, checking the perimeter and then I smelled you. I decided to check on you he says and I believe him. Are you ok?

I'm fine I say still a little irritated. Then I see Steal come over to where we are laying. He lays in front of us looking into our eyes.

Lea, I overreacted. You're right. I don't have a say in who you kiss. It irritated me how possessive he was being and I know how he is with girls. I'm sorry. The whole time he says this he is staring into my eyes and I believe every word.

Okay I finally say after a few minutes. I see his body relax and his ears relax also.

This is close to where I found you right after the first time you shifted.

You remember that I asked him.

I couldn't forget it if I wanted to. You were pretty pissed about losing your clothes and the boy you wanted to beat up he said laughing.

That's when I decided to be a warrior and to train and work every day. I didn't ever want to feel weak again. I sure showed him.

I remember the day like it was yesterday also. A boy at school had pushed me down on the playground. He had been teasing me because he liked me but it made me mad. When I tried to hit him for picking on me he laughed in my face. I was so mad I ran off and shifted without meaning too. Akita and I ran for so long before I stopped and then I just sat by the creek and cried. Liam found me and Owen soon followed. They talked to me about shifting and the special bond I had with Akita. They helped me learn to control my shift and when I figured shifting out they told me how beautiful my wolf is.

As much as I would love to lay here with you all day, I better finish the perimeter Liam says bringing me out of my thoughts.

I realize he's still laying in front of me watching me. Do you want some company I ask.

To my surprise I see Steals ears perk up. Sure! he says.

We both get up and start running together. Steal is just a little bigger than me with white and black fur. We run together in silence for a while, just enjoying the run.

After awhile Liam comes back through the mind link, don't be too hard on him Leah. He just wants to protect you.

I know I sigh. I shouldn't have led Shane on but I just wanted to relax and have some fun. I've been working so hard at school and at training I haven't been on any dates or really even hung out with Olivia much lately. I just wanted to relax a bit.

I know. It's my fault Lea. Talk to Owen when we get back. I overreacted and he had my back.

I will talk to him.

Thanks he says but I can tell something is still bothering him.

After we finish the morning route I go back to where I left my clothes and I shift back. I quickly get dressed and I go to the pack house. I meet up with Alpha Zack and Ellie who are getting ready to head home with the members of Sun River. After quick hugs and promises to see each other soon they leave.

I see Chloe trailing Shane and he turns and gives her a kiss goodbye. Shane walks by me with a smirk as Liam comes up behind me. "Could have been you" Shane says and winks at me.

"Thank goddess it wasn't" I say under my breath and Liam laughs. I turn around and see he is shirtless and quickly try to pick up my jaw from the ground.

"Thanks for running with me this morning" he said to me.

"Thanks for letting us go. Akita needed to get out" I say smiling up at him. "And thank you for saving me from that" I tip my head in the direction of Shane.

"Any time princess " he says with a wink. We both head into the pack house for breakfast.

Later I decide to go talk to Owen. I head to his office in the pack house. Before I can knock, Liam opens the door. "Hey" he said softly opening the door for me.

"Thanks" I say coming in and taking a seat. Owen is behind his desk.

"Leah!" he says and watches me sit down in a seat across from him. " We can continue this later" he says to Liam.

"Liam don't go" I say quickly as he starts to head out the door. "It's fine, you can stay". I cant help but feel some comfort at his presence in the room.

Pull yourself together Leah I tell myself.

Or jump his sexy body Kiki says.

I chose to ignore that. "Owen I'm not mad at you for making me leave last night but I'm almost considered an adult werewolf. I can take off myself. "

He truly looks sorry and looks like he didn't sleep well. "I know Leah. I just don't think I will ever get over the need to protect you. But Liam and I know your can handle yourself against any wolf, so we want you to start taking over trainings with Jake."

I think my jaw hit the floor. "Seriously?" I ask and I look over to Liam.

Liam just smiles real big and Owen says "Seriously".

"Wow, I would love that Owen! Thanks!" I get up and go around his desk to give him a big hug. Then I go to hug Liam as well. "Thank you!"

I leave Owen's office and head home for some dinner. I have patrol tonight so I make sure to eat enough and then head down to check in. I walk behind a tree and remove my clothes and then head to the southeast boarder. On my way I hear company and look over and see Steal running beside me.

Hey Liam, thanks again for the opportunity to train.

No problem princess. You deserve it.

We get to the boarder and I stop to sniff around. Something smells off I tell Liam.

He bends down to smell something when we hear leaved cracking and 2 wolves jump at us. One lands on Liams back and another comes at me.

Rogues, southeast boarder I mind link to everyone.

Owen replies quickly, how many Leah? Are you alone?

Two but I smell more, and no I am here with her Liam answers.

On my way comes Owen's reply.

Quickly I sink my teeth into the rogue who came at me and Liam has already killed the other one. Four more rogues come and Liam quickly kills two while I finish another one and circle the last one. Then out of the forest comes more. They start attacking Liam and next think I know there are 6 on me. I kill another one as 4 more are biting at me. I take down another one as one jumps on my back.

Owen! I call to him and as I sink my teeth into another rogue wolf I feel a sharp pain in my leg. My wolf howls and anger fills our body. We attack the wolf that gashed my back leg and quickly end him as well. I take a moment to look back at my leg and it is still pouring blood.

Liam I don't feel good I tell him Turning to another Rogue.

"Bring me the pure white wolf" we hear the leader yell from the shadows and Liam let's out a threatening growl.

Hang on Leah. You can do it. Liam says and he's still being attacked.

Finally Owen and Jake break through to us and Jake kills the other remaining rogues on me while the rest retreat and run back.

Jake I need a blanket I say quickly before I shift back into my human form. Owen, Jake and Liam run to get shorts from a near by hiding spot and Jake brings me a blanket to cover up in. I inspect my leg as I feel darkness pulling me in.

"Leah, stay awake sis" Owen says.

I see Liams face as a blanket is draped over me. "Liam...." and then my world goes black.
