Chapter 1: The sick Alpha Billionaire

2012 Words
At the Hunt memorial hospital, the best if not one of the best in ski city, in the VIP wing a particular city billionaire was lying on the high-end adjustable patient’s bed in the middle of a coated white air conditioned ward room with large windows covered by ocean blue curtains. His back supported by pillows, wearing a light-blue with dark patched patients rob his eyes fixed on the forty-inch curved Samsung TV, a remote at hand and a newspaper on his chest. On his bedside closer to the wall there was a stool on which his wallet, credit cards and a lavish Rolex rested. A wooden coat hanger was also there keeping his Turkish three piece suit dust free. His name was Kai Watson, An athletic physique: medium height roughly 6.1", Tanned skin, soot black shimmering jell-soaked hair combed backwards with a part symmetrically cutting across on the right side of his head, pitch black arched eye brows below them crinkled eye lashes covering his brown almond shaped eyes, Thin nose bridge, his divine lips were always lubricated, a well-trimmed beard and sideburns, broad chest down to his ripped abdomen extending to giant protruding hairy limbs. Kai was almost every girls dream guy, if not, those who saw him for the first time always had to look at him twice. And yet even with all that apex masculinity features that got other men feeling inferior and billions of dollars in his accounts not to mention the fact that he was one of the most powerful super natural species in the world, he still was sick. Am talking about a sick billionaire that also happens to be an alpha full blood werewolf! Super human speed almost invisible to the naked eye, stamina, agility and strength, advanced smell and hearing, ability to heal instant how sick could he be? Kai pressed a button on his bedside and immediately one of the two guards by his door came in. Dressed all black, the usual bodyguard style wearing an earpiece and a pair of shades across his face. A huge bald headed bush-bearded man threatening to rip the poor suit off his body. "Sir" "Why is the doctor taking this long? Check the service charter how long does the CT scan results take to process I have been lying on this bed for close to half an hour now" In real sense they'd been there for ten minutes. But who was he to argue with his boss? For billionaire’s like him, time was money. "Let me fetch him Boss" "You read my mind, now go don't just stand there!" The guard left but it didn't take long before he came in flunked by the doctor with an iPad in his hands, circular plastic- framed glasses hanging on his nose bridge, black hair with traces of grey tied in a ponytail dangling behind him as he walked and a white dust coat covering his white shirt and a pair of blue pants. "Mr. Watson" the doctor said. "Give me some bad news doctor" He was so used to bad news that he didn't have any hope left. This was the tenth hospital in three months he had visited and he only came there because there were no answers abroad in developed cities like fort canon. So, what was the problem with Kai? Since he was born, for the longest he could remember Kai had never had a good night sleep and the past three months had been the worst. He was diagnosed with mild insomnia due to Post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and neurological dysfunction. One hospital after another he visited and the doctors in psychiatric wing said the same thing, it was going to heal over time. All he needed was therapy and enough rest, less stress and some exercises. Each of those things he did but there was no visible change. His social life was poor, he became easily irritable, pushed away all his friends and avoided crowds. Most of the time he was in his pent house or travelling in a car with tinted windows. It took his guard’s persuasion to get him to agree for that checkup. "Am sorry, there is nothing showing up on the scans, my best guess was a brain tumor but there is nothing. Your case is beyond us" "Come on doctor, this is the best hospital in the entire city. You mean I have to fly out again to get some real help or even a glimpse of it?" "Once again am sorry, But I can suggest a few remedies...." "Psychotherapy, meditation and maybe s*x? Yeah I have heard all that" He said sounding agitated, “Just remember the NDA you signed” He angrily slid out of the patient's robes and started dressing up. The doctor had no much to say but leave the ward room for a disconsolate Kai. It was the best decision of his life to leave, Kai was seething with rage, his iris glowing like red hot iron and his claws sprouting from underneath his finger nails, anger bottled up in his chest wanted to explode. After dressing up he took some time to breath and calm down his angry wolf that wanted to re-paint the room red with the doctor’s blood. "Relax boy, we are used to it already" He said unto himself and marched outside wearing a forlorn face the same way he went in. Leading the way, sandwiched between three guards, Arthur his personal guard on his right, one on the side and another behind him. He used the sun glasses as a disguise although people knew him already, they didn't have to look twice and none of the nosy paparazzi dared to ask for an interview or take photos of him, last time someone took a photo of him they ended up in a hospital bed. Arthur got the door of his Mercedes G 350 putting his arm on the lintel to protect his head, once Kai was comfortable in the back seat he locked the door and took the driver’s seat. "Any good news?" He asked turning the car around the parking lot. "Nothing good, I just need to get rid of this rage man...shit!" "Am sorry for suggesting it sir. Let's go to the woods then" That was one way to help, the rage race. Just to morph into this huge scary grey pellet wolf and run in the woods, feel the adrenaline jolt in his powerful muscles and howl his anger out of his chest as loud as he could. He sanctioned Arthur's suggestion with a nod, and the latter asked the other guards tailing in a land cruiser TX and Ford mustang behind them to go ahead home. Kai could protect himself, arguably against anything but he still wanted to show off with guards and high-end vehicles. The convoy of three split at the ring road. Silence graced the car as the rubber tightened its grip to the tarmac, the fuel guzzler slithered on the road like a snake does in the grass. Kai was scrolling on his phone, once in a while looking through the window as they left the city suburbs to an emerald green forest area synonymous with ski city. The serenity of this environment made him roll down the window pane and allow the fresh air to fill the car, he inhaled a lungful of it. "This air is fresher than foul smelling city polluted air, you pathetic and ungrateful humans are a disgrace species on this beautiful self-sustaining planet!" He said spreading his arms and relaxing his back on the comfy black leather back seat. One of the toys in his expensive collection. No answer or opinion came from Arthur and Kai realized perhaps he was offended by his mean comments. Arthur was his most trusted humans, they came from way back. "Don’t give me that look man, am part human too. That makes me pathetic and ungrateful" "No offense taken boss, you're right. Global warming is a real thing but who cares? As long as they make money" "Ass holes, thought this other guys with deep pockets will agree to join hands with me and try to fight this thing but no one wanted to listen. They claimed am clout chasing" "Most of them have rockets in their basements ready to fly them to space in case all hell breaks loose...We are here sir" Arthur said getting deeper in the uninhabited woods. “Perhaps its time I got a rocket too and don’t worry I’ll take you with me” There was no sign of human life around apart from the sound of birds chirping, deer’s belling and crickets chirping under the rocks and barks of trees that only Kai could hear with his advanced hearing and smelling. He jumped out of the car and undressed throwing his suit in the back seat together with his watch and gold necklace around his neck. Then one by one his bones started breaking in a loud crackling sound and a fur grew all over him from his feet, then his abdomen and hands, his iris glowed, his sharp carnassial teeth also germinated and in less than a minute he was a complete wolf, looking at Arthur with a low friendly rumble. "Have fun boss, I'll wait here" He said waving him off. As though he was waiting for his signal Kai's wolf ran through the woods so fast that within the first two hundred meters he felt as though his lungs were burning up and the adrenaline through his body was so intense, Kai felt alive again. When he stopped, he was deep in the woods. He took some time to scan his surroundings, there was no sign of people. Perfect spot to howl all the anger in his chest. Kai scratched the forest floor, dry and dump leaves floating in the air, then with a firm grip on the ground he released one loud, sad and long howl that echoed through the forest. That was for his wolf side. It was Happy jumping around, wiggling his tail, he then pounced up and morphed midair landing on his feet in human form. He screamed out as loud as he could and went down on his knees breathing heavily, veins sprouting across his face. There was no shame in letting his emotions get the better of him, even as powerful as he was Kai was not impervious to pain, so the tears of sadness rolled from his eyes. "Why me!" He screamed at his own echo his arms spread out. Then his senses caught a scent. He was not planning to kill but since nature was also not being fair to him, what was the point of being nice? He swiftly morphed back to his wolf form creeping slowly to his target. Wolves were known for their pack mentality, but he was the lone wolf. His own pack was exterminated by a rival pack when he was around four years old with the help of a powerful witch leaving him with PTSD, only his father and mother survived. And as though nature was not cruel enough his mother was hunted down and killed now it was just him, his father and his step mother he didn’t like. A deer was grazing by river. She sensed danger and raised her gaze munching the juicy green grass and leafy twigs, her ears sharp and free standing like a pair of antennas. He looked at her with pity but nothing was going to make him happy and calm than his jaws buried deep in is some warm blood full of life. He pounced on her back wrestling it down on the ground with all his strength, the deer groaned in pain as she took her last breath, Kai's wolf tightened his grip on her neck until she stopped breathing. Until she couldn’t breathe anymore. Perhaps the wolf spirits needed such a sacrifice because later that evening, he would meet the cure to his insanity.
