Chapter One – The Bride Arrival

206 Words
The rain-soaked carriage rattled to a stop before the towering gates of the Alpha King’s palace. Evelina pressed her face to the window, heart hammering. The kingdom’s heart was nothing like the quiet village she had left—it was stone, steel, and shadows. The doors creaked open, and there he stood. The Alpha King. His presence consumed the courtyard, tall and broad, eyes like fire smoldering beneath the storm. “You are late,” he said, his voice rough, as if every word was both command and warning. Evelina stepped down, refusing to bow. “The road was long. Blame the storm, not me.” Gasps spread among the watching guards. No one spoke to the King so boldly. For the first time, his lips twitched—something between a scowl and the shadow of a smile. “Rebellious,” he murmured, circling her like a predator. “The crown does not like rebellion.” Evelina lifted her chin, refusing to falter under his gaze. “Then perhaps the crown chose poorly.” And in that instant, both knew: her heart would never bow easily… and his desire to break her had only begun. --- ✨ That’s Chapter One --- ✨ End of Chapter One.
