Chapter Seven – The King's Fury

227 Words
The throne room shook with the weight of the Alpha King’s anger. His voice thundered as he dismissed his council, the echo of his command scattering even the bravest of lords. Only Evelina remained, standing defiantly before him. “You lie to me,” he growled, eyes burning like embers. “I heard whispers in the dark. Someone was with you.” Her heart skipped, but her chin lifted. “Do you cage me so tightly that even shadows are forbidden?” His jaw tightened. In two strides, he was before her, his fury radiating like fire. He grasped her shoulders—not to harm, but to shake her into obedience. “You are mine,” he hissed. “This palace, this kingdom, this heart—mine.” Evelina’s breath trembled, but her spirit did not break. “A heart cannot be owned, no matter how fierce the hand that holds it.” For a long, dangerous moment, they stood locked in silence. Then the King’s grip loosened, his expression torn between rage and something deeper—something he refused to name. “Defy me again,” he warned, voice low, “and I will not be merciful.” But Evelina only whispered, “Then you will never have all of me.” And his fury burned hotter than ever. --- ✨ End of Chapter Seven (condensed).
