216 Words
The rain fell hard against the palace windows, a storm echoing the turmoil inside Evelina’s heart. She sat by the fire, the flickering flames painting her face in gold and shadow. The Alpha King entered quietly, his presence a storm of its own. For once, his voice was not laced with fury. It was low, rough, almost broken. “Why do you wound me with your silence?” he asked. And those are the parts that make me who I am.” For a moment, he simply stared at her, torn between desire and fury. Then his hand brushed hers—gentle, hesitant. “Then let me learn you,” he murmured. But Evelina knew rebellion still burned, waiting for its moment to rise. --- ✨ End of Chapter Twelve
