We were stuck in the elevator for two hours. At first I couldn’t stop crying, grieving, and hurting. The pain was sewing my mouth shut and ripping my heart open. When we got out, I was expecting to see my mother crying along with the rest of my family, but no one was even on the floor when we arrived.
“What…” I had whispered quietly, “Where is everyone?”
“They left,” I was told by who I presume was the doctor, “Once your nan, um…passed, they all left to mourn.”
“They left to mourn while I was stuck in the elevator?”
“Nathan,” Hayden had pulled me aside and whispered in my ear, “I think we should fly back tonight.”
“Huh?” I looked up at him angrily, shoving him slightly,
“Just why are you saying that?”
“Nathan, you don’t find it shady that your entire family left?”
