Back from the dead

Brielle's POV: I stop. Frozen in my tracks. The waffle timer snaps me back to reality, "You must be mistaken, that's impossible. My birth parents died in a head-on collision. Nobody claimed them. They died alone." I spit hotly. That fact has brought so much resentment. That's probably the sole reason I haven't actually done much digging on relatives. "I assure you, Little Wolf. His name is Travis Faelan, and he is the Alpha of the Harvest Moon pack. After your first shift, I plan on us returning to my pack house." He pauses," Our pack house. Travis will meet us there. Once you're bound to your wolf and every trace of the block is removed, your wolf will recognize its sire instantly. She'll squash any doubts you may have." He smiles in this huge adorkable way. That's my word for those ear-to-ear dorky grins that you can't help but smile back at. "Our pack house, huh?" I beamed back at him,"What's an Alpha? "He's the leader of the pack. Essentially, it's comparable to the title of king in the human realm." He explains as he plates our food. "Wait, so I'm like a princess?" I blurt out, interrupting what was clearly a continued thought. "Well, yes, technically. You're actually first in line to inherit the pack and become their Luna. However, you're so much more than that. You see, as my mate, you're also the Luna of the Shadow Moon pack. Thus, our pack house." He kisses my cheek and motions for us to head to the couch. He grabs the food. I grab two big cups of orange juice. I'm silent as I absorb the information just thrown at me. "Hold on, you're the Alpha of your pack, and I'm like the queen?" I said after we got settled on the couch, and he was scrolling for something to watch. "Our pack, Little Luna. Are you surprised? Your entire aura screams royalty." I scoff, "That's hilarious because my aura has always screamed 'weird little fantasy nerd who takes lore far too seriously." He puts his index finger under my chin and lifts my head," You do realize that your obsession with lore was the 'fantasy' part of you trying to trigger anything to be freed, right? This," He gestures to all of me," This is who you truly are. I cannot wait until you've connected to your full power, it's going to be quite a site to behold." He cups my face and kisses me deeply. My head starts to spin and my wolf whines in my mind. I know what she wants, it's the same thing I want. That's the reason for the moisture built up between my thighs. However, I'm very aware of just how swollen and sore I am today. I reluctantly pull back before I no longer care about the ache. "I'm sore." I grumbled, annoyed. He laughs and pulls back. We landed on a Halloween baking competition to watch as we finished up our breakfast and I cleared our plates. I came back and threw my legs over his lap. I then throw a blanket over us and he starts rubbing my feet. I melted onto the couch, "So tell me about werewolves. I was always more into the Fae realm, so my wolf lore is lacking." "Do you know the Greek origin story of werewolves?" He asks, to which I shake my head," Well, according to legend, Lycaon, the son of Pelasgus, angered the god Zeus when he served him a meal made from the remains of a sacrificed boy. As punishment, the enraged Zeus turned Lycaon and his sons into wolves. Selene stepped in to lead and guide them back into grace" The way his face lights up as he talks melts my heart. "That's both amazing and disgusting. I would've probably had a similar reaction." I laughed lightly," oh what about the perks of being one? Do we get any bonuses in human form?" He laughs heartily," Bonuses? That's the first time I've heard it said that way. Yes, you'll pretty much have all the 'bonuses' your wolf does once you become one. All of your senses will be more heightened. Helpful when in a fight, torture for cafeteria mystery meat day." I make a face as I imagine what that'd smell like, just with a normal human nose. It's a combination of the smell of feet and fish. Not sure how they did it, but that was the consensus around campus. "I don't think I'd wish that smell on my mortal enemy." "Right, thus why I avoid the cafeteria as a general rule. Is there anything else you'd like to know?" "Is your pack as old as the one I'm from?" "The Faelans and the Moonstones are the founding packs in Washington. MY pack originates in Germany, yours, as you know, is from Ireland. They've existed a measly forty miles away from each other for centuries." "That's just incredible, and now they'll become one." I pause, and my face drops, "If my birth parents are alive, how and why did I end up being adopted?" He makes a face that tells me he's been waiting for that question, "Not all of us are good, Brielle. We call them rogues. They are wolves who abandon their pack or do something to get them exiled. Pack laws are absolute, breaking them has consequences. Rogues spend their lives traveling and weakening packs." He runs his hands through his hair like he's nervous, "That's what happened to you. Rogues broke into your homes. They stole three pups that night, you and two of your cousins. All from the royal family." " My cousins? Have they found them? "I didn't ask, but nothing he said led me to believe they did. Also, do you have a birthmark? Travis mentioned something about one." My heart sinks, there's still some of my family out there. Likely blocked and confused about who they are. "Yeah I do," I leaned to the side and moved the robe. Revealing the crescent moon-shaped birthmark on my right hip. He runs his fingers along the outline," I've been told I'm destined to be a creature of the night whenever anyone sees it. Kristian. We have to find them. My cousins. We can't leave them in the position I've been in for years." He smiles sadly at me," First thing we have to do is get you through your first shift. Once we're home, I will have Logan do some research. I promise you, Little Wolf, we will do everything we can to bring them home." I moved to curl up in his arms. My tensed body eases. I believe him when he says he'll move the world for me. I know we'll find them. My body makes it clear how exhausted I am," First I shift, then the real work begins." I mumble as the rhythmic sound of his heartbeat lulls me into sleep once again.
