Amelia felt the weight of several pairs of eyes fixed on her, and mentally scolded herself for not being prepared to answer the impending questions that would surely follow.
"Are you really the boss's girlfriend?" Claudia questioned, interrupting Amelia's thoughts.
"Oh no no no!" Amelia quickly emphasized, her voice filled with nervous laughter and occasional coughs to relieve the tension in the room.
"Wait, so you're not dating the boss?" Mike asked suspiciously.
"No, I'm not," Amelia declared, dispelling any doubts.
"Why not?" Mike blurted out, earning a sharp glare from Claudia.
"She isn't dating the boss, okay? The boss is obviously out of her league," Claudia rudely remarked, glaring at Amelia.
