“Where the hell did you find that?” Rob asked, gaping over her shoulder.
“And why didn’t you give it to Uncle Ray?” Trevor said, frowning as he inspected the brooch.
Kira’s gaze flickered to Trevor. “Your uncle has been very mysterious about this thing. There must be more to it than he told us, whether he knows it or not. We need to find out what.”
“Do you think this is why someone tried to have you killed by cutting your brakes?” Rob asked.
Kira shrugged. “It’s possible, I guess. But I was alone when I found it and I didn’t tell anyone.” She briefly explained how she had managed to find the brooch, as well as the remnants of Elena’s note.
Trevor’s frown deepened. “Uncle Ray is the only one who goes in that study—except for Elena. She was the only one he trusted to keep it clean.”
