TO THE FARTHEST

DISAPPOINTMENT

Dad was not very happy and was helpless too, he couldn't do anything this time and I have already signed all papers which officially made me Junior Captain of the project, the Earth.

It's already been a few days now, dad isn't talking to me. After that day he never said anything. Uber was very happy for me anyway, he is 'Pet of Junior Captain'. Bea was proud I got a great post but the project is what matters. Uncle asked dad whether he should speak to the Mains about it but all knew that as I had already signed all papers so talking is actually of not much use. Captains also had white uniforms similar to Mains but had different types of shoes and had a cap that shows their posts.

I never asked anything about mom or why did my dad hate Main a lot. His silence is killing me every moment. And I really cool take this anymore. I really needed answers. "Dad what happened to mom and what did Main do? Why didn't you ever tell me?"

"Laisy you are still a kid. You needn't know all that." he was not at all willing to say anything. "Oh really, I'm not a small kid who would believe whatever rubbish you say and quietly without questioning would do everything as per your wish. Am I not old enough to do things myself? Am I not old enough to understand things? Am I not old enough to know what I want? Am I not old enough to question you? I'm supposed to move out from here within a few years from now and you still think I'm a kid? You have always been controlling me and you always wanted me to do what you want. You are the one who is being so childish and ignoring me when things don't go according to your wish." I know this was way too much to say but I couldn't keep quiet any longer. It was my mistake, instead of keeping everything to myself and throwing at him all of a sudden one day I should have told him whenever I felt something.

Uncle slowly stood up and left. Dad just went to his bedroom and locked the door leaving me there alone with my questions. Uber just came and sat next to me.

Anyway, I got into this and if dad isn't willing to give an answer then the best person to ask for an answer is Main.

A few days later...........

One morning.....

Along with Uber, I was getting ready to join the 1st day of my work, when dad knocked on my bedroom door. He had a few white uniforms, which I remember were in that box. He gave those to me "Laisy, it's all fate dear. I shouldn't blame you. It's my mistake, I didn't know you grew up. I still....thought you were that 7-year-old kid whom your mom left with me to take care of. I know it wasn't only your decision. I'm supposed to give you the answers you are searching for dear. Oh, you're running late ...... I made your favorite breakfast. Get ready and come down soon." I soon got ready. Cap and shoes were really special that they were given only from our office. I went downstairs, my food was already kept on the table. I soon finished it and called Uber to come down as we were running late. Dad was in the kitchen, he was washing the dishes. I just hugged him and said "Bye dad, don't worry it will all be fine. I'll come as soon as today's work is done." Uber too came to the kitchen and hugged dad. He was so excited and dad was sad but....what could he do anyway. Before leaving for one last time I turned to my dad. "Bye Uber , All the best for your 1st day Laisy. Stay safe" he said. Closing the door behind as usual I got on my Flypod. Bea waiting for me as usual. It was a very cold, dark morning. It was freezing outside. Not many birds were there to find. Talking on the way, we soon reached the research center.

I went to Main Gust's office from where I was given my white Captain's cap with my name on side of it in small size and symbol of my position in middle, and white shoes. I wore all that and was now ready for the day. My 1st day at work. I felt a sudden shiver behind me, I was a bit nervous. I really hope things could go well today. Taking a deep breath and calming myself down, I went to meet Main and ask about what I had to do next. I was about to get into Main's office when Ashley stopped me and told me Main was in a meeting. I was thinking of waiting over there when Bea noticed me and came towards me " Hey, Main has got any meeting?". " Ya, and I'm waiting here. Hmmmmm........" I said with a long sigh. "Nerves ?? I'm also free, let's go for a quick walk around. You got enough time ya?" she asked with a smile and as I was anyway a bit nervous might be a walk would help.

We were very busy talking while walking around. We were talking about little troubles we got into while we were kids when I noticed Stephen. As usual in his 7 feet height with dark eyes and hair, always a smile on his face showing his cute dimples which never fades, walking so straight. He was in the technical department of Main Gust. I can never literally take my eyes off him. Is he really the best among young males I have seen? Or is it that I feel he is? Bea knew very well that he takes all my attention. She knew I would mess up in front of him and she sure wanted to see the fun, so no wonder she rushed towards him pulling me along with her and talking a bit louder so that he notices us. He smiled wider when he saw us "Oh hi, How are you girls doing? And how come you be here, got your posts?"

I just love his voice and I'm very nervous to talk to him so you see I try to avoid talking to him as much as possible and my heartbeats were raising a lot 'Oh Lord, this always happens whenever I see him.'. Knowing that I'm not anyway going to answer Bea said "Hi Stephen, ya we got our posts. Both of us are in Main Gust's team. I as Junior Assistant Main, and Laisy is the Junior Captain of 'The Earth'. ". "That is great. So 1st day of the job I see. Nervous?" he asked laughing. "I'm as cool as always but Laisy is nerves and Main is in a meeting so we thought of a walk," Bea said looking at me. Seriously you really had to do this Bea. He just looked at me and said: "All get nerves on their 1st day and it's okay. Don't overthink then it will all be fine. So I was just thinking of getting a coffee would you both like to join?". Not letting me say anything Bea said "Ya we are in.". We were about to leave when Ashley called me "Laisy, the meeting is over, Main is waiting for you" just see how unlucky I am. It's not like I get to meet Stephen always and he asked to join us for coffee for the 1st time and that turned like this. "I'm sorry I'll have to leave. You both carry on catch you later." I just turned and walked to Main's office. Main Gust there sitting on his seat with a file in his hand, I greeted him and sat on the chair opposite to his. He passed me the file "Laisy just go through this, this is all the information and missions we conducted for the project. Now I want you to go through these and this is just a brief of everything. The real report and there with Ashley. You can ask her to mail it for further reference and just go through files of other successful projects too so that you get an idea how to lead your project."

"Sir so is that all I have to do?" I asked standing up. "Ya, for now, all these. Later I want you to develop a robot which can be used for your 1st mission, to land on Earth. I guess you know the reason why I'm asking you to do that. Your dad is very good at robotics and as he isn't ready to join here, I had to ask you. You can take his help and develop something very different. This is not an option nor is it a request from me, it's an order you must do within 4 months. From the time you start working on the robot, you needn't come here every day but will have to send me your progress every week. You can take help from Stephen if necessary So now you somehow need to convince Frank to work for this and that's all in your hands how well you do that, anyway it must be submitted before the deadline. I hope I'm clear. ". I bowed and came out of the office with the file in my hand.

Ashley said she had already mailed me everything as she knew those will surely be needed. Will dad agree to help me? Won't he say that's not a Junior Captain's duty to do that? How will I convince him to work for Main Gust?

I reached home and went to the kitchen for some water. "How was your day dear?" dad asked from behind, turning and facing him I answered, "It was good, I actually wanted help from you dad.". He just smiled and said, " You look so tired Laisy, I guess it's better if you get some rest now. We can talk later. First go shower, have your lunch and then go take a good nap."

At dusk after prayers, it was very cold outside and I was shivering. I went to the kitchen, it was a bit warmer in there. Dad was busy making dinner. The aroma was just wonderful, I guess he was trying out a new dish. Uber was sitting close by him, telling him how much he loved dad's food and complaining about my cooking. "Baw, baw , dad please don't let Laisy cook much, she just makes a big mess. When she moves out one day, I'll have to go along just cause I'm her pet but I won't leave you, whatever happens, dad. I really don't wanna starve and die, seriously." I knew he was talking so much just cause he would have sensed my presence close by like all other animals. I know he just wanna irritate me, I usually used to fall for all that but I had other things to worry about now unlike before. Dad laughed and said "Haha, so it's just for my food and not cause you love me huh?. I really didn't realize you both had grown up so much and knew what you wanted more than I thought you both did. I know I can't hold you back for long, I'm not worried about being alone but you both are still my little ones Uber." Uber looked quietly at me who was standing close to the kitchen door. Dad was in his own thought and in a low deep thoughtful voice he continued "I should have known, my role as your guardian is about to be over. You are adults now and I can't avoid your questions anymore like back in those days. Hmmmmm........." he signed.

"Dad" I called him. He turned towards me with a weak smile "So......... hungry?". "Baw , baw , Dad she needs to go on a diet. She is growing wider than her bed," Uber said without leaving a chance. Ok, I was a bit fat but not so much anyway. Dad laughed and asked "Really? Hmmmmm...... you think she will go on a diet? Haha, we'll have to get a wider bed for her Uber.". Oh really, they both were together always. I doubt at times whom dad loves more, me or him. Uber and I are almost the same in character. He should have been born as a homo, like my twin cousins Clara and Jain. He looked more like a sibling than my pet.

"Seriously guys, oh so childish. Dad, you need to take my side, and Uber I'm your master." I said sitting in the dining chair. "Baw, baw , really, oh my lord, my master it seems. Hahahahaha .......... you are so funny Laisy hoo hoo hoo..... my stomach hurts from laughing so much." Dad also joined him. "Sit down, okkk... enough joke for today. Dinner is ready." dad said serving us our food. "Dad I need to talk to you, it's important," I said sounding more serious. " After dinner Laisy" he replied and all were quiet. 'No talking while eating, and respect food you get.' I remember mom saying and now dad makes us follow it.

After dinner, we sat down on the couch. "Laisy it was my bad I never told you anything. I didn't just feel like and I don't know you will understand it or not. I was very surprised you asked me a lot of questions and then I realized my daughter is grown up to question me. I know I can't anymore ask you to do only what I want you to. You can take your own decisions. You have a lot to live and learn." Dad said looking sad. "I thought you were wrong to question your dad. But now at last I will tell you what actually happened.".

I didn't feel he was so comfortable in telling me "Dad, it's fine if you don't wanna say...". I said in a low voice. "No dear you should know. Main Gust and Lucy are very close friends since childhood. They were always together in whatever they did like Bea and you. I liked Lucy but I didn't want to ask her out as I didn't know how she does react and I doubted might be Gust and Lucy were in relation. But when I knew they weren't, I thought of approaching Gust for some help and then we became good friends. I said him I had feelings for Lucy but he said he can't help with that and can't talk to her about it. Then he would rarely speak with me. Later I once felt Lucy was talking something about me and after a few days she asked me if I had any feelings for her. I was shocked but managed to confess. She was happy and said she do like to keep our relationship a secret for now. But after a few months Gust came to know, they had a fight. It seemed like he liked her too and was sad when he knew this. I felt it was all due to me but Lucy said she would never have had a relation with her bestie. But I didn't want their friendship to get ruined so I tried to talk to him and get their friendship back. It did go well but I had a bad feeling about something. They both always wanted to get the post of Main and both worked very hard but Lucy's rank was a bit higher than Gust due to which she became the Main later and he was her assistant. Losing both his love and dream position in his career, something was changing in him he wasn't like before anymore. I knew that he wasn't so happy with someone and he felt lost. Feeling that I'm the one he is not happy with, I tried to make him happy and comfortable as much as possible. He used to come home most of the time till you turned 3 years old. Then one day Lucy said she was gonna continue the project her parents were working on, the Earth. She had to select people she trusted a lot to her team and Gust was the 1st one she chose. I didn't know why, I felt something bad about Gust but he was the only one very dedicated and most trusted back then. At first, everything went good but later they decided to make a landing on Earth which always was a failure as the connections got lost. So Gust said if something living could land might be it would be better. They tried on creatures other than dogs but it was of no use as telepathy didn't go that well with those. He asked Lucy to send a homo. I said her not to but she couldn't wait or listen to me. She said she wanna end this soon and sending a homo is really gonna work. Gust asked if Lucy could go, I opposed. So he said he will go as he didn't have a family or anything to lose. He knew this would work very well with Lucy she didn't let him go and decided she would. When I tried to explain all were worried about the project, not about Lucy. The day before the mission Gust said he made sure the connections are all good and there is no risk at all. But he was wrong, he didn't pay much attention to anything. When she was gone he didn't wait or try to get any connection. The project got closed and in no time he became the new Main. I doubt he would do anything for what he wanted. I doubt he did it purposefully. ".

"Dad might be it was a mistake you should listen to what Main Gust has got to say about this," I said. " I don't wanna listen to anything from him. I told you I don't know how good this explanation is......but..... hmmm.....Good night" dad got up and left. "Dad I need your help with making a robot. Main said we can try to make it land first. Only you can help me. It must be ready within 4 months and after a quick checking, we can continue. He said I must do it my......." Dad cut me off from continuing and said "He knows when it's for you I will have to do ya. Ya sure for you I'll but I won't meet him or come to the office. Laisy just doesn't believe him, doesn't trust him so much, and be careful. You don't need to take all the responsibilities yourself, it's a team." Dad turned and went to his bedroom.

At last ...... all done. Dad's works are amazing. He is very brilliant and now as he is with me I needn't worry about the robot at all. I hope everything goes well. Did Main really do anything purposefully? He looked so sad when he talked to me. Could he really do this?
