In Laisy’s POV..........

As Main said he didn’t wanna see anyone that day, we soon returned home and the next day I received a mail mentioning the whole team has 4 days' leave due to the failure of our project. The mail was from the government and they said they wanted us to be back to work with a fresh new healthy mind which can think and plan better than before. They also appreciated our effort. I was feeling all blank. Didn’t know what to do, didn’t feel like talking to anyone. It was then that Bea called me “Laisy, you received the mail regarding leave ya? Tony is not on leave and I guess Main is having a meeting with him. I have no idea buddy. I got a message from Tony that I need to send a mail to the government asking them immediate permission for a new mission which will be held in the next 3 weeks. I think they already called and we’ll soon be informed.“. Whatever it is I don’t wanna pull dad into it again, “If it has got something to do with dad I will ask them to ask dad directly and I can’t involve my family in my project.“. I knew deep inside that this is not possible if Main orders me to do something. I had no idea what it is gonna be, does he really wanna continue with the project, or is it just cause he is angry with me?

4 days didn’t take long to end. I was having a very happy family time with dad and Uber. Uber was telling me how much he enjoyed irritating me and from childhood, I would get angry easily even on very small things. We were getting ready in the morning to go to the research center and dad was downstairs preparing breakfast when Uber said “Laisy you should sure do this mission too. I’m sure this will go well. Whatever happens you should do it.“. What does he mean by ‘Whatever happens’?. Does he know something? I was about to ask Uber when dad came upstairs “You both are already running late..... Breakfast is ready and if you are both done come downstairs in the next 2 minutes you’ll have to skip breakfast today.” and we both had to rush downstairs. Bea was waiting, as usual, seeing Uber she didn’t feel like he was alright. She moved closer to me and said in a low voice “Laisy, what happened to Uber? He looks lost in thought. Did you tell him something? Scolded him? Usually he use to walk ahead of us now he is far behind.” I turned to see Uber and yes Bea was right it didn’t look like the real him. What could have happened?

We had to wait outside a bit long as Main Gust was seriously discussing something with other Mains. The broken glass door was fixed and the office was as good as before, no one could even guess now that this door, flower vase, etc were broken 4 days back. I was about to peep a little to know what was going on but soon Bea was called inside. I guess she would have told them I was outside when they asked her about me. But I was doubtful when they didn’t call me in. I looked through the glass. Bea was shaking her head, then many other Mains also were saying ‘no’ to something. It's then I felt a tickle in my tentacles, they were saying about me and I knew that after the failure of the previous mission I will surely be the talk. But why were all saying ‘no’ and it looked like Tony was trying his best to make them agree and Main was quiet the whole time. He was facing the wall till then but he suddenly turned and said something and all were worried and were looking down. They one by one each stood up and were walking towards the door. I sat back there near Uber before anyone noticed me. I looked at Uber but he looked very confused “Baw, baw Laisy......can I..... do you know why?........... I’m getting a bad feeling and tickle on my tentacles. I’m feeling they are talking something about me.“. “Oh Uber am I not the one who is in that conversation, you are my pet so might be they were saying something about you too in between,” I told him not considering it so seriously and Uber understood that. “Baw baw the talk is about you why is my name used? That too in the past few days almost all day. Hmmmm.....” he said sadly.

When all the others except Main Gust, Tony, and Bea left, I was called into the office along with Uber. I was nervous, getting in I could see Main was sitting in his chair, Tony was sitting on the chair next to him Bea standing in a corner. None of them had their pets along and why was I asked to take Uber along with me inside? Turning around from his chair Main said he had taken a decision and then I saw Caney enter into the office. She is our Senior Dog trainer, the one who trains dogs for doing something like small tasks and jobs other than their usual training mainly for small missions. She was so old and skinny with long blonde hair and small green eyes, she is actually the most jobless person I have known, as most of the dogs don’t do any kind of other jobs only a few like her are on that post. Why was she here now? I knew then what is gonna happen next and I really didn’t want that. With a smile Tony asked Main to continue, standing up Main said “Laisy, we think that the robot idea didn’t work cause it didn’t know how to respond quickly and it couldn’t sense the danger. Of course, a machine can’t sense all that like a living animal ya and there are always connection issues that worry us a lot. So we were thinking instead of a robot why not send something living and we don’t even need to worry as you can easily connect with Uber through telepathy. JC Laisy’s project, why don’t her pet, Uber help her in an important mission like this?” What?? What does he mean? Send Uber to Earth? I didn’t know what to do. “To a place where even a robot couldn’t survive, you want Uber to be sent there? Not possible.” I know no one ever dared to say a direct no to Main but I was scared of losing him too. Smiling, Main walked towards us “Laisy, he isn’t your own pet and you know that well. He is owned by the government and was given to you like all the others so that he becomes friendly and we can easily communicate with him. But when the government needs him for a project you must return him.". Coming close to us he bend down and patted Uber on the head “You are a good boy ya, Uber won’t you help Laisy in the project. You are anyway pet of Junior Captain so it's your duty too and not just Laisy’s. Not for us, not for the project but for Laisy you need to, her whole family sacrificed a lot for this and you don’t wanna let her down do you.". Asking him to get his hands off him, I pulled Uber closer behind me. I knew well I couldn’t stop them but I never want to lose him. Poor thing was shivering behind me, “Whatever I don’t care. I can’t let Uber go even if I lose my job.“. Main tried to move closer to Uber but no way I let that I warned all to stay away from us. I was so angry I didn’t know what I would do if anyone dares to come closer. Tony stood up from his chair and came close to me, “Tony it’s better if you stay away” I warned him. Knowing that the situation is so bad Bea came forward asking the others to move back. I was scared they do forcefully take Uber from me and I slowly moved towards the door. “Laisy, I can of course understand you. We can sit down and talk about this ya? Please. “Bea said looking so sad but I couldn’t believe anyone in this case. Caney was quiet the whole time, she didn’t know what to tell me. I knew she felt so sorry for me but what can she do, just keep watching helplessly like the others. “There is nothing to talk about here. I’m taking him away from here.” my voice was being louder, I was never so angry like this before and I knew I was acting insane and I didn’t even notice poor Uber was getting scared of me now. I pulled him along and left from there, got onto flypod, and left. Getting into my home I told dad about it, he didn’t have anything to say much especially nothing comforting “Laisy even if you quit your job Uber will be taken if Main writes a letter to the government saying he wants Uber for the mission and you will be given warning too if he complains about you, then you won’t even be able to go there and help Uber in any possible ways.” he said with a sigh. Uber also didn’t have to tell me anything. Was this all-cause I chose to do this project? I should have said this ‘no’ then without any fear.

In Bea’s POV.........

I was hurt cause Laisy didn’t trust me, I couldn’t do anything but I should have at least tried for Uber. “Main, I already said you this is not possible. Not just Laisy but I don’t think anyone would be ready to give away their pet. They have been together from childhood and Uber is such a sweet dog, no way anyone gonna let him go.” Canney said feeling bad. She was thinking what if Main agrees with her and drops the plan but he didn’t, “Canney, if she won’t give we will have to send a request to the government asking the permission to use the dog and that's it so simple.“. How could he be like this and Tony was giving him full support to proceed with the plan. “Main Gust, I can’t agree with this plan. A place where a machine couldn’t survive, how can a pet?” I asked. “But dogs can sense danger and can easily hide that's a good quality of theirs,” he told me. “What if in another planet he is not being able to sense and protect him from danger?" to which Main just had an evil smile as an answer. I don't think there is any way out of this. Even if Laisy won't let them take Uber they'll forcefully do that with government permission. How do we stop him?
