The escape

1000 Words
As Vincenzo's words echo, Aria springs into action, pushing me behind her. The darkness seems to come alive, and I realize we're in a narrow corridor, the walls lined with flickering torches. "Run, Selina!" Aria shouts, her voice like a whip crack. I don't need to be told twice. I dash down the corridor, my heels clicking on the stone floor. Aria's right behind me, and I hear Vincenzo's angry roar echoing off the walls. The corridor twists and turns, and I feel like we're in a maze. Aria's leading the way, her movements swift and sure. I trust her – she's got a plan. We burst through a door, and I'm hit with a blast of cool night air. We're in a courtyard, surrounded by high walls. The moon is a silver crescent, casting an eerie glow. Aria grabs my hand, pulling me towards a rope ladder hanging from the wall. "Clove, go!" she says, her voice urgent. I start climbing, my hands gripping the rough rope. The wall seems to stretch on forever, but I keep going, fueled by adrenaline. I reach the top, and Aria's right behind me. We drop down onto the pavement, and Aria grabs my hand again. "This way," she says, pulling me into a run. We're in a narrow alley, the buildings towering above us. The air is thick with the smell of garbage and decay. I hear footsteps behind us, and I know Vincenzo's not giving up. Aria ducks into a doorway, and I follow her. We're in a cramped, dimly lit shop, the shelves stacked high with dusty bottles and boxes. The sign above the door reads "Madam Fati's Potions." Aria's breathing hard, her eyes scanning the room. "We need to get you safe," she says, her voice low and urgent. The door creaks open, and a tiny, ancient woman steps in. Madam Fati, I assume. Her eyes are like two black beads, and she looks like she knows secrets. "Ah, Aria," she says, her voice like dry leaves. "You've brought the girl." Aria nods, her eyes not leaving mine. "Madam Fati, please. We need your help." The old woman nods, her eyes glinting with curiosity. "I've been expecting you, Selina. Come, child. We have much to discuss." I glance at Aria, and she nods. "Trust her, Selina. Madam Fati's on our side." I take a deep breath, and follow Madam Fati into the back room. The door creaks shut behind us, and I feel like I've stepped into a different world. Madam Fati's back room is a treasure trove of weird and wonderful things. Shelves line the walls, stacked with jars of strange liquids, dusty books, and peculiar artifacts. The air is thick with the scent of incense and magic. "So, Selina," Madam Fati says, her eyes glinting with curiosity. "You've caught Vincenzo's eye. Tell me, what do you know about the prophecy?" I glance at Aria, and she nods. "Tell her," she says. I take a deep breath, and start talking. I tell Madam Fati everything – about Vincenzo, about the Full Moon Gala, about Aria's warnings. The old woman listens, her eyes never leaving mine. When I finish, she nods, her eyes glinting with understanding. "Ah, yes. The prophecy. It's an old one, Selina. One that speaks of a girl with your bloodline, a girl who will bring about the downfall of the vampire world." I feel a shiver run down my spine. "What does it mean?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. Madam Fati's eyes are serious. "It means, child, that you're in grave danger. Vincenzo will stop at nothing to get his hands on you. But it also means you have a choice. You can choose to fight, to use your power to bring about change." Aria's eyes are burning with intensity. "We can do it, Selina. We can take down Vincenzo and his kind." I feel a surge of determination. I'm not going to let Vincenzo win. I'm going to fight. Madam Fati nods, a small smile on her face. "Good, child. I'll give you what help I can. But be warned – the road ahead will be treacherous. Are you ready?" I nod, feeling a sense of purpose. "I'm ready." Aria's smile is like a ray of sunshine. "Then let's do this, Selina. Let's take down Vincenzo and change the world." we were walking out of Madam Fati's shop with Aria, feeling like you've got a plan. You're gonna take down Vincenzo, and you're ready for whatever comes next. As you're walking, Aria's phone buzzes. She answers it, her expression changing from determined to concerned. "What is it?" she asks, her voice low. The person on the other end says something, and Aria's eyes flick to me. "Okay, got it," she says, and hangs up. "We gotta go, Selina," she says, grabbing my arm. "V, something's gone down." We start moving, fast. We're heading towards the city, the crowds getting thicker. I can feel eyes on me, and I know we're being watched. Suddenly, Aria pulls me into a narrow alley. "Get down," she whispers, pushing me into a shadow. I hear footsteps, heavy and deliberate. Vincenzo's voice echoes off the walls. "Selina, I know you're here. Come out, and I'll make it quick." Aria's eyes are locked on mine, a silent message passing between us. We're not gonna make it out of this one. Vincenzo's voice is getting closer. "Last chance, Selina." Aria pushes me behind her, her eyes flashing with defiance. "You'll have to go through me first," she says, her voice like a challenge. Vincenzo's laughter is like a cold wind. "Oh, Aria. You're more than welcome to try and stop me." The alley is silent, the tension building. And then, in a flash of movement, Vincenzo's there, his eyes locked on me. Aria's body is between us, her eyes flashing with warning. "Run, Selina," she whispers. But it's too late. Vincenzo's got me, his grip like a vice.
