Chapter 10. After Heaven

After what feels like ages, frozen together. Locked by teeth and body, his teeth withdraw. I don’t want to lose the blood in my mouth and his c**k inside me. But I too withdraw my teeth from his flesh and he moves away.

“Oh s**t s**t s**t! What did I do? Oh god I’m so sorry. Did I hurt you?” he looks terrified. Did he not feel my bite? I felt his. His mouth is stained with blood. My blood. I lick my own lips. Tasting his blood again as I do. I stare at him. I shake my head. He leans down and starts kissing and licking my wounded chest. “I’m so sorry I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to hurt you!” he keeps saying it over again.

He’s picked me up and sits on the edge of the bed. Cradling me against him while he rocks back and forwards. His face is buried in my neck, he keeps shaking his head. He keeps apologising for hurting me. Eventually I pull his hair so his face is away from my skin. “You didn’t! but I bit you!” I say. His eyes widen “You did?” I nod and gesture to his shoulder.  He shrugs the grins. “That’s fantastic – you can feed!” I’m stunned. No it will finish the transformation. I’ll become a full vampire. I already feel amazingly strong. I don’t know what happens when you finally complete the transformation. Especially when the final blood you drink is wolf blood! And what of him? More than a drop of vampire blood entered him when he bit me. Will he be affected? I don’t know. Neither of us has collapsed yet so I can only hope that what we did was ok.

Eventually I persuade him to lay back down on the bed, facing each other but so close you can feel each other’s breath. My head pillowed on the firm bicep muscle in his right arm. He lays on his side looking over at me.

“Why did you bite me anyway?” I ask. He stares guiltily at me. “It’s a wolf thing, when we find our mate and we make love for the first time, we bite each other at that exact moment to create a mark. The mark will let us know where the other one is, if we are parted it aches until we are together again and if we are hurt it calls to the other person to let them know. Also, if we cheat it will hurt deeply. The mark will be with us for the rest of our lives together. Only death will fade it. Others will look for it. It’s a bold and prominent statement of togetherness.” 

He did this because it was the natural thing for the wolf in him to do. He marked me in his world as his mate. To him he made it official. I start grinning as what he did sinks in. He made me his mate. Forever. No getting away now because it will hurt, I guess. Although the vampire healing may have something to say about it. I wonder if a mark of love will survive through all of this. Did my bite have the same effect? Did I mark him and tie him to me? I suppose we will have to see in the morning if either bite has remained.

I snuggle down into his arms. Smile up at him and grin. I’m so happy right now, the battle and whatever is to come can be tomorrow’s problem. Right now, I’m in seventh heaven!
